Recommendations NATO strap on Explorer
I've had my 214270 Explorer for a little over 24hr and I'm already anxious to get this beauty on a NATO strap. I've heard that you should also replace the pins with curved spring pins . . . is this correct? Any recommendations on brands or online stores for the strap?
Any photos of an explorer on NATO strap would be helpful! |

Have not done it yet with my explorer but on other watches I always use shoulder less spring bars. You have to cut them to remove them but they are very secure and make sure you never use them with a bracelet.
Not sure why a curved bar would be needed. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk |

shoulder-less spring bars are generally recommended for NATOs.

I'm not a fan of standard natos - I don't like the bulk they add under the case. But Crown and Buckle has a great single-pass nato called the Chevron that I'm really enjoying. It's got a really nice weave, and the buckle end is fully adjustable for length.

Considering the price of some of these bands being <$30 I'm thinking I might try a single pass and standard NATO. Agree . . . the weave on your band is nice!

If straight bars are more secure then thats the way I'm going to go! This guy recommends curved bars: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wFwhWMVZ8hc |

I think curved bars would give you more room if it's really tight to the case some watches it's hard to fit a strap in there to be honest I haven't looked at my explorer I'll have to look when I have it out next time. I don't think anything is more secure than the bracelet but I understand the appeal of a strap.
I've had no issues with planet ocean black bay or pelagos I think with most tool watches you'll be okay with the straight bars. not to repeat the obvious but I can just not stress enough how important it is not to use shoulderless bars on a bracelet. I have seen on a datejust where it is really tight fit. Sent from my moto g(6) using Tapatalk |

Not a fan of NATO's I'd go with a nice Rubber B strap.
