Too many people buying the “hype” not the watches.

Then we wonder why there’s a “shortage” and “look down” on the GM.
Whatever happened to buying a watch because you really WANTED IT?

Yes you should buy it even though you don’t want it.

This sounds like exactly what Rolex wants you to do.

Never buy anything for the sake of it or just because it’s available...that said, likely won’t take a hit if you don’t end up loving it. Which I doubt....

I’m just going to enjoy what I have for now (5 digit polar, TT gmt, and LVc) No point in buying just cause it’s there and while I am not against the idea or flipping as it’s one perogative to seize opportunity when presented with them any $ upside on flipping a ND sub is not worth the hassle of finding a buyer. I passed on the AD info to a member who’s thread was mentioned earlier. |

There's a lot of stuff at Home Depot that's just there so you can buy too, get that extra refrigerator or a new bluetooth enabled garage door. Don't even get me started on the plumbing isle....
After you buy the Sub, head on over. Fun times. |

I wouldn't unless you want it. Not much money to be made flipping it and these are relatively easier to find. Actually, you'll probably lose money flipping it especially if you have to pay taxes on it.

If you buy a watch just because it is there you are helping to perpetuate the Rolex shortage, you are helping gray dealers and worst of all, you are placing obstacles in the path of people who truly want this watch to wear and to treasure for years to come. Just don't do it. Buy the watch YOU want. |

I wouldn't buy a watch I didn't want.
I would buy something I have on my wish list if I walked past a window and saw it on display. A couple of years ago I would have pulled the trigger at my discretion at a time which best suited me. |

Didn’t we just have a thread like this? For the exact same watch? With the general consensus being, no?

Seems silly if its not the watch you want, there are plenty of s/s easily available in ad’s such as the milgaus, explore ii’s, occasionally air king etc. Otherwise get onto a wait list for the watch u want.
I was seeking a nd sub and its generally not too long a wait eg 1/2 months, so you are not passing up on a rare once in a lifetime watch. |

I turned down a SS Daytona just over a year ago that my AD thought I would love, and he was understanding when I said "It just doesn't interest me".
He smiled and sold me the new Explorer which really "spoke" to me. It has since become my every day wearer and sometimes I even wear it 24/7 if I do not feel like dialing the safe combination at bedtime. So the moral is: Buy only what you REALLY want and your life will be so much enriched.

An oyster perpetual will do practically most any sub or Rolex can do. And cheaper.
