Like many of my generation, I can only tell the time digitally.

So it’s a wrist shot, then read the time from that :)

Heck, what's the watch for if not to tell the time?

Working around heavy equipment and wrenching heavy equipment are two different things. I must admit to having wrenched on motorcycles, cars, and multimillion dollar pieces of capital equipment and never once damaging a watch; I don't think twice about it. If the space is too tight then the watch gets pocketed.

I can tell you the forum does have a general perspective toward watches kept in plastic and in safes. Much more respect is given to those who wear their watches and who don't post self acknowledged idiotic threads. I have to admit that if I were still racing sailboats I'd love a YMII. But there is no other reason I'd own one. It's over sized and I wouldn't consider wearing one while wrenching unless it was on a sailboat during a race.

But after all, they're your watches. Do with them as you like but don't expect those who disagree with you to not say what they think when you post foolishly.

I'm certain I made someone on FB cringe when I mentioned having desk diving swirls on my Pt Daytona after a week of ownership.

To answer your questions. If I’m on my phone I use phone for time. If my phone is not in my hand I always go to my watch ...
That's not true at all. This is one of the friendliest places on the internet. You've started a record-breaking 90 threads in the month that you have been a member, and to start with some of them were so unpopular that you yourself asked admin to lock them.

I’ll give you credit for actually starting a topic that isn’t about how much something is worth or about ADs having no sports steel. Keep it up.

Right, much more significant topic about whether or not to wear a Rolex or keep it in plastic in a safe. Great improvement!!!

Do you look at your Rolex to tell time or your Phone?

I use my watch. But I’m
Not gonna lie with it being a rhodium diamond dial and non lume gold hand under most lighting situations I could not tell it quick enough so people always think I’m trying to show off my watch lol. Nope. Just all looks too much the same and it takes me a few seconds. Haha my wife’s watch is never set correctly. It’s jewelry. If you asked her the time it would probably be at least 9 hours off and be 20 days off the correct date lol.

I just realized that either my Tapatalk app is messed up (or I ain't using it right?) or that the guy that said for me to back off with the attitude wasn't even the first guy that I responded to which makes me super super confused... so I thought... but then... and then... I need to learn this app or site more

I use my phone to set the date/time on my watch in the morning. I then check my watch throughout the day for the date/time.

IMHO it's much more entertaining. As for not being "significant", I think that can be said about most of the topics here on TRF... It's a watch forum not a forum discussing important scientific discoveries.

Rolex. Quick flip of wrist to see dial. My phone is either in my pocket or next to me with 5he screen off. Some younger people might have trouble reading an analog watch face, but I have no idea why they would buy a Rolex.

Computers work better than phones, fwiw. Go to the web site for the forum on a computer; it's much easier to make sense of the flow that way.

I believe it's roughly equivalent to a Rollie.

Yep, although my DJ41 ain't vintage, I usually need to look twice: first to admire the case/dial/bracelet/etc - then if I remember, I'll check the time.

Honest, this is true although slightly exaggerated. Like most Rolex watches my DJ41 is a work of art.

The watch of course. I don't wear my phone on my arm. It's usually in a pocket or stashed in a bag.

I usually will use my watch, but I am in front of my computer most of the day, so probably that clock gets used the most. I also probably have a bad habit of not really trusting my watch (as sometimes I put it on without resetting it, just to get it going and forget to set the time), so might double check it with my phone or fitbit.

Always check my watch but takes several glances. First admire the dial and only than look at the time.

I didn't spend all that money on a fine mechanical wristwatch so I could ignore it in favour of a battery-powered pocket watch!
