New member, collection and next steps

Hi, I have just joined the forum and wanted to introduce myself. I’m Berty234 and have been active on other forums and watch mad for a couple of years now :)

I’m focusing on Rolex and Tudor these days so thought it would be a good move to get involved here.

My current collection is: Rolex Explorer 16570 (polar); Tudor BB58; and Omega Speedmaster FOIS. I recently added the polar, swapping for a 214270. Very pleased with it.

I’m thinking about adding another Rolex. As much as I like the BB58, I’ve always liked 5 digit Subs. My current thinking is to swap the BB out for either a 14060 or 16610. Alternatively, as the 16570s are still good value, I might even keep the BB and add a black 16570. Bit bonkers if I already have the polar? I can’t keep the BB and add a good Sub budget wise.

Am I missing any other options in the same ball park? 36mm’s have always felt a tad small so I prefer the 40mm sports stuff.

Welcome! 16570 is a great watch. In regards to adding a black dial version you may be better off just sourcing a black dial and having a watchmaker swap them back and forth when you feel so inclined. If you prefer a 5 digit sub to a Tudor BB you might as well move into the sub now since they aren’t making any more. As for 14060 or 16610, I can only speak for my own taste. I prefer my most commonly worn watches to have a date but ones that get sporadic use I prefer no date since it’s easier to set and go.

I think a Sub is the best plan :) good idea on the black dial for the Exp 2, like it!

Matte dial 16800 would be my vote.

Welcome to TRF Berty234! If you wanna dive in to a bunch of knowledge on Rolex and Tudor, you definitely came to the right place. :) You have a pretty nice collection! Very nice pieces!

You're definitely not bonkers if you add a black 16570 to the family. Lots of members have done the same thing. I've also seen the similar with the Daytona C and LN/LV Subs, GMT variations, etc. Nothing wrong with more than one "flavor" of the same kinda watch!

A ND Sub or a Sub Date would be a great addition as well. I personally would probably go for a Date, but since you already have the Polar with a date, the 14060 would fit nicely in your collection. As advised many times here on the forum.....go with the watch that makes you feel good and that "sings" to you!

Welcome to the forum! We have similar tastes and collections (Sub/Polar/ExI/Speedy), actually. This is my idea. I recently sold my 14270. I have a 14060M and the 16570 polar. They are a perfect pair, since you are considering those models.


The BB does nothing for me. I would move it to fund a 14060M. There is no need to have both. The look of the no date is a great contrast to the white dial polar with it's GMT and date functions. With a polar in the collection, I also see no need to add a black dial. That $5K can be better spent.


All of this is my opinion, of course. Hope it helps you with your decisions.

A 14060 is top of the list for sure. I do like a cyclops though. I think it will depend on finding the best deal and example out there in the next few weeks.

The thing with the BB, and I’ve had a few, is that they initially feel like the bees knees but the novelity wears off and I realise it isn’t a Sub... great in a bigger collection but if you want a Sub you want a Sub.
