Jeez, Shannon puts up a few nice pix of views from his hotel room and some turn it into a train wreck.
Why not leave it at 'nice pix Shannon' instead of a best city competition?

That’s why I have no desire to live anywhere near any large US city, mainly because of two things we are not aloud to discuss on this form but I did visit SF back in 08 and it was really nice!

Beautiful city from the 46th floor day and night! Sadly I don’t have time to explore the city...but I will definitely set time aside next time I’m here to see the city!

I thoroughly enjoyed Alcatraz, but that was the highlight of my visit to SF; otherwise, I was came away underwhelmed.

It's pretty sad to see what SF has degraded into. I went there for the first time in the late 90s with my aunt and uncle, it was beautiful. Went back several times throughout the years. Most recently was a year ago, and I won't be making any trips back unless it's for work (unlikely). I don't feel safe there anymore, and I definitely don't feel safe taking my family there with no ability to protect ourselves. My 2 cents.

I spent A LOT of time in the city while at The University of California in the early to mid 90s. It was fine up to that point. I was there last in 2014, maybe, didn’t seem over the top horrendous. I wonder exactly when it got so bad. Also, I spent a few days in Vancouver back in 2011, and it was fine then too.

Wow. I’m surprised at the “concern” and “safety” issues many have brought up. I was aware the city has degraded. Beautiful view though!

The hoteliers in Union Square are losing their minds. Homeless go into the hotels to raid the housekeeping carts of soap, shampoo, TP, etc. Wander into the Tenderloin and you could find yourself in big trouble. That said, I found SF to be so unique, beautiful and cool. Stupid expensive. Valet at our hotel was $75 per night.

I’ve been to San Francisco many times starting in the mid-‘60’s.
I cry for what’s happened there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro

I'm behind the times. Mandarin Oriental became the Loews Regency in 2015......

Thread has turned into hate. We have our problems. But the bashing is somewhat offensive and I’m sure you would not want people bashing where you live. Hopefully London can turn things around. My wife and I know her personally and she can fix this.

In San Francisco for the night...
The hotel views are amazing like I mentioned earlier. I can honestly say I’ve never seen such magnificent views likes this before! I’m not on the road constantly, but 8 to 12 times a year. My experience here was great and I hope to return soon! Laszlo, your city is beautiful! Had a great meal at Waterfront and look forward to a return visit! Every city has pros and cons...but the view is spectacular! Cheers!

No hate. To the contrary, an amazing city. The homeless problem is real though and real bad. I saw it firsthand. I was surprised. Something must be done. I don't want to wander further into unacceptable discussion. And I lean left. Something must change.

how can the truth be hate? London is where i was born, we got out when we were kids in the 70s as the writing was on the wall back then, if you go back to where i was born, what i came from doesnt exist anymore. Fast forward 40 years, and the work of the actual 'haters' is complete, the place is a **** hole, all caused by a particular political mindset. |

if they want to turn it around, then tell them to do the opposite of whats caused the problem, dont expect more of the same, or the same by a different name to be the answer to the issues.
p.s i have never heard of this person, thought you meant london, it makes no difference though, london is like sf, caused by the same barstewards. |

I take everything with a grain of salt but in the end it's useful information. I always thought SF was this flourishing hotspot. |
