Does your DEEPSEA get noticed more?

I have an SD Z-series I bought a couple years ago and am seriously interested in getting the SDDS if I can only see it in person. I can't find any AD in Toronto that has one in their showcase. My AD has had a couple come in only to have them go right out to people on their waiting list. I was told that before the next one comes in and goes out to a member on their list, they'd give me a call so that I can come look at it.

In anycase, to those here who have an SDDS and have had their's for quite some time and as a daily wear-watch, seeing as the watch is so big and sits so high up on the wrist, have you noticed more people noticing the watch and asking you about it?????

You better believe it

1. Fine dining establishment, from the hostess to the manager to the server. There I think they're trained to do that and with the Deep Sea they're not sure what the heck it is.

2. Friends. Show a friend, let them try it on, put it back on and you catch them hard eyeballing it thereon after for hours on end.

3. Gym. Nope, not unless there are watch people, I guess everyone too busy flexing in front of the mirror to notice or care.

Elsewhere. Haven't had a chance yet.

Try Damiani jewellers in Woodbridge, they seem to always have one in the safe.

I've had my SDDS for almost 4 months and it gets 90% of my wrist time. The upgrades compared to the SD are really noticeable, from the domed crystal to the upgraded clasp and the ceramic bezel. I'll tell ya Rolex did this watch right!

True Rolex WIS people notice the watch right away and ask what model is it.
Seeing it in person is the only way to judge it, and it wouldn't surprise me that once you try it on you'll be a proud owner of it.

Nope...hasn't been noticed a bit since I got it (and haven't taken it off) over a month ago...just the way I like it.

Dont have one myself, but with the most writing on a rolex face ever you know its something special. Love it 100% :)

Some people on here really scare me - I mean to actually take the time to record how many people notice your watch in different environments......please! That's why many people think the wearers of large watches are prats - because of posers like that.
In two months of wearing my SDDS I have not had a single person comment on it - why - because I don't wave it in people faces. A watch doesn't make a man, nor does a car etc etc. Have a bit more self respect and maybe you won't need to spend so much money buying other peoples.

Hang on a minute. You've taken more time to respond to peoples comments in a purely negative way as opposed to writting about the subject the OP wanted to hear. Don't use this forum if all you're going to do is knock people you know absolutely nothing about.
Name calling will do one thing here on TRF and my guess is it'll take a few posts for you to find out what that is !!!

The DSSD gets more attention because of its size than any other watch I own. It's not an iconic watch like the Daytona and isn't as easily recognisable but the DSSD does get peoples eyebrows twitching.
Do they ask questions about it though? Not unless they know me..

Hi and sorry - no specific offence was intended BUT, I have always worn Panerai until my recent purchase of the SDDS and if you look at the amount of negativity on this forum about larger watches, including the SDDS and Panerai- and the 'type' of person who wears them, it's then amazing to see people come out with statements about how many people notice them wearing it!

I really wasn't trying to be brutal but surely you buy a watch for you, otherwise that is one hell of an expensive way of proving something. I honestly have no interest in people noticing what watch I'm wearing - in fact I tend to prefer it if it goes unnoticed.

On the topic! I wear mine every day - I am totally converted having always been a bit snobby about Rolex. BUT with the exception of friends who knew I was getting the watch, I have not had a single person 'notice' it. Having said that, I can only think of a couple of occaisions my PAM's have ever been spotted either!

My apologies once again - it just makes me mad to see so much contradictory content on the forum.

Congrats on your month old DSSD, and i hope you enjoy it. Strange you should mention the size of the Pan's.....ive never really liked pan's and dont understand the interest, but each to their own i guess. Back to the DSSD,

I tried on on at the AD the other day, and was surprised how nice it felt on, and even though its a monster it did not look out of place. I also strangely liked the writing on the face (gas escapement thingy) I dont own one,so i cant really comment on if its noticed or not, i merely wanted to post my experiance, and a welcome to Mr Tito!

Ah, I guess I can see your point.

I feel the same way about people with their cellphone. My philosophy is that if you have a cellphone, then you must be a high flying "mover-and-shaker" making the million dollar deals, why else would you have one and have to be looking at it every 15 minutes and texting someone, etc etc etc.

I've never owned a cellphone and unless I'm a CEO, running my own business, or the company I work for gives me one and they pay the bills, I can't justify ever owning one. Who wants/needs to be that accessible?

Guess when you get old and it takes 20 minutes just to get out of bed and head to the loo, some things just don't seem to matter. Good for people who buy watches for themselves; good for people who buy watches just to be noticed; good for those who love Rolex; good for those who buy a watch to get laid. Hell, now that I think about it I might just be a bit green with envy.

Absolutely. Hasn't come off going on almost 2 months now and I'm lovin every minute of it. My other sad watches are starting to get a little jealous (and somewhat anxious) as I don't really see the need for a lot of my current collection since I pretty much know they will never get wrist time anymore.

The SMP Chrono will never be sold due to our history together & the fact it was my 'first love' as a teenager (strictly speaking watches of course)...but I'm finding a hard time justifying all the others (which is actually a pretty liberating feeling...it might be nice to cut way down seeing as I only wear one watch at a time). heck, that alone will make my buy the watch....lol....i can picture the scneario....one man's wife says to him,

"well honey, he has a bigger Sea Dweller than you. His go deep and yours don't. Oh my gosh, that thing is huge."

Had the DSSD since Sept. and no one has noticed or rather mentioned anything. Had the Milgauss GV one week and it has been noticed each time I wear it.

yes my deepsea gets noticed all the time... maybe its because the wrist that its attached to hangs on the ground while i walk... since i bought the watch i now have disc problems in my back.... but i love it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1
