116503 Daytona with Slate Gray Dial Question
Hi folks,
I've come across a very attractive 116503 Daytona with a slate gray dial but I can't find any definitive proof that this was a watch that was actually offered at some point. The current catalog only shows white, black, and champagne dials for the two-tone watches. Can anyone shed some light on this mysterious beauty? Thanks! |

Great question! I know the 116523 was offered. A family member purchased one pre-owned—from a store in the DFW Metroplex, as a matter of fact.
Not seeing any on Chrono24, but found this listed on the Watch Chest: https://watchchest.com/rolex-cosmogr...ut-116503.html Might be worth giving them a call? |

I called Tourneau, since they had one too, but they weren’t very helpful. My guess is that dial option was quietly pulled from the catalogue a couple years ago. Everyone was focused on the stainless/ceramic so it went virtually unnoticed. I wish I could find some official Rolex document/catalogue that shows it though. |

You have good taste. IMO, that is the absolute best looking dial color for the TT Daytonas, and it's not even close.

There were some dials that made the transition from 523 to 503 briefly...and then they were mysteriously gone. The blue is one that comes to mind. I've seen a couple, so I know there's a few that exist.
I believe the slate did, too, but I can't say for sure. Sorry I can't give you a more definitive answer. |
