Yep, I really am looking forward to this. I have my dad's 1975 6105-8119 that I wear sometimes, but not often enough because I'm worried something may happen to it. This would alleviate that issue, I think.

Hopefully it keeps the same dimensions and stay under the $4000 mark... I think without a bracelet, that's not too much to ask (a bracelet would be pointless, IMO; this thing was designed to be worn on a rubber waffle...). I'm worried that the 8L movement may make it a little taller than the original, which wouldn't kill it for me, I just hope they can keep it in the 12mm overall thickness range. I would have loved to see a slightly higher (type II) crystal with more of a bevel, but now I'm just being nitpicky. Great looking watch, either way.

Looking forward to it as well. I agree, like the SLA017 and 025, I'm sure it will be thicker than the original. The vintage model just fits perfect, not too heavy not too think. Both the 017 and 025 are pretty heavy.

I've never handled the originals and I also agree the SLA025 is pretty unwieldy (not purely a question of weight, but of ratio and those darned 19mm lugs).
But imho the SLA017 is not too heavy, nor too thick... *kind reminder* it's a diver's watch, not a Piaget dinner-watch...

Just talked to the owners, and they said they hope to find out soon about price and more details. It truly was a leak and were in the dark about it. The deposit was $250...I’m extremely excited.

OK, I don't believe that the lug width (internal) will be so narrow.
After 19mm lug widths for the previous re-editions, I'm really hoping that Seiko has grasped the nettle and made a 20+mm lug dropout width.
However, it is nevertheless exciting!!!

19mm was the original lug width on the 62Mas and 6159, so I imagine in order to be a "faithful" recreation the new SLA033 would have a 19mm lug width like on the 6105. Seiko loved that 19mm width back then, for some reason. I bought one of the SLA017 waffle straps for my 6105, but it was waaaaay too long. Comically so. I hope they fix that aspect, at least.

The 19mm makes wearing the SLA017 and SLA025 balanced.

I have come full circle in accepting that the official strap really is the best option for these re-creations; they are fantastic for diving and above-water wear.

In what Universe is a soft, thin 19mm strap and a 16mm-tall case (SLA025) balanced?!?
Even if you're convinced of that, finding 19mm straps is a RPITA...

I'm just going by how my wrist doesn't hurt when I dive or wear these two re-creations with their original R02B011J9 and R02B021J9 straps; they don't feel top-heavy.

I did pick up some original Phoenix G10 straps in 19mm that mickey500 made for a client and had some extras. These make the watches top-heavy for me.

A source I did find for 19mm straps are merci-merci dot com

My conclusion was then to just wear the original silicone straps. The watches feel comfortable and balanced (i.e. not top-heavy) in my Universe.
