J Crew has a nice one for around $118. Some folks have to have a name brand though. We have the duffle bag that is it’s partner, we travel constantly with it and it shows no wear. Made to last a lifetime which is rare these days.

Right. Fossil has some incredible leather bags at around the $200 range. For travel, Eagle Creek and Timbuk2 are solid. All relatively inexpensive.....which appears to be blasphemy to some.

I've had the Levenger Bomber Jacket Laptop Messenger for 5 years. It's fantastic. https://www.levenger.com/men-s-22937...nger-5998.aspx

Billingham is known for their camera bags but makes a briefcase messenger. Great bags. Classy and very unique. You’ll be unlikely to see another person carrying one which I think is a plus. FWIW I own the Hadley Small camera bag and it’s been all across the world with me and still looks great. Billingham quality is worth the cost. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |

Another big fan of Tumi. Especially the ballistic nylon material, whatever it's called. I have one and it just doesn't look like it ever wears. Worth the money.

For the op, and specifically for those recommending Saddleback and Filson, I’ve owned quite a few from those makers and several of the other popular recommendations. I picked up a new briefcase from Jackson Wayne a few months ago. It’s the best one I’ve ever owned. Give them a look:
