Submariner order, what happen if movement is updated 2019.

Post 1.
Sub steel date black waiting now 7 months. Rumor is movement will be updated 2019. AD says 1 year left to wait. Will i be supplied SS with new movement? Or do I need to register interest for SS with new movement if I want that ?

Waiting 7 months? For a sub? How many ADs have you tried?

I’d say you’ll probably get a NOS.

Even if the movement is updated are you honestly even going to notice the difference?

You will not get the new version if they even update it. If you do you will be waiting a couple more years if you are not a big spender at the AD you are buying from.

Not necessarily true. They could potentially still ship the old model until stock is depleted

It is my assumption that GMTs and Sub shall het the new 70hr power reserve movement.

Yes, 72 hour reserve is noticeable, right?
And will it not be more desiarable second hand?

Yep, true.

Statistically, though, I think I’m correct.

The big thing to me would be if they thin out the lugs to round out the overall look. That would be a big change I would like over the current maxi case. I would wait until Basel to do anything. I would also get a new AD, you have waited far long for a Sub.

If any significant changes in the Sub it will not be available for another two years

Sounds like you’re getting bumped by others since subs come in quite frequently so if an update happens, you’re probably not goig to get one at all. Why not branch out to other ADs and see if they can get you one sooner. Waiting 7 months and being told it’ll be another year for a sub is translation for “you’re not getting a watch from us”.

You'll probably get the updated one.
If the 116610/114060 is discontinued I doubt Rolex headquarters would ship one out.

You won't notice a greater power reserve unless you take it off for 3 days.
There has been debate that the new movement will be less desirable (there's a thread) and it has been said the last of the 3135 Submariners will be a great watch to have.

Oh.. and I got a 116610LN from my AD after a whole 7 days - a week before Christmas .

Hmmm, i did ask same AD to order any GMT II or Daytona. Response, waiting list closed. New orders not accepted.

Is it just me, Europe or what? In USA you seem to get these like Seikos??

I'm in central Scotland.
I think you need to find another AD.. and sadly you won't have done yourself any favours asking for multiple watches. My advise is to reach out to another local AD (or the next nearest one) and ask for a Submariner Date only.

I got a submariner date black in stainless steel in 5 days in the UK from Watches of Switzerland (Glasgow). Picked it up last weekend. My first Rolex and love it.
