BMW X5 and Audi Q8

Just saw both in the metal today. Both while driving, so I didnt get a super look.

But I’ve got to say that they both look amazing. I wasn’t expecting it with either. I’m officially impressed.

I’ll be excited to see what sport variants they both evolve into.

I went with my son to look at a Q8 this afternoon. Pretty nice suv, really well done, it looks so much like the Urus . Could be an option one day.

There is a Q8 in my building. Looks awesome. Needs an S variant though. The current motors don’t really do anything for me.

The Q8 with all the goodies including the 22s looks amazing. Not quite enough room for us. But one outstanding chassis. BTW, the 22s on my Q7 with the adaptive suspension completely cancels out the stories you hear. They feel like 20s. No noise, no harshness whatsoever. You also get 4-wheel steering. SUV can do incredible u-turns and more. The Audi is the quietest car I’ve ever owned. This is a must on the Q8 as well.

I'm impatiently waiting for the new X5M. I had a 2012 diesel and loved it. We have V8 2018s at work and l love those. The new gen is full of tech. I may look at a leftover 2018 X5M to see if I can get a good deal, we'll see.
I'm excited.

You can forget about any LCIs for the 2018, it's officially on the new generation so it's a whole new truck for 2019.

New X5 looks great, lots of improvements. I think they have a winner. Can't speak to the Audi thought, not familiar.

Be sure to sit in the back seat also. I love the look of the x5 but the backseat isn’t big.

The M will be incredible.

I wonder if they will deal on the current version. Possibly the nicest high performance SUV out today.

I too am excited to see what happens. My lease is up in just over a year. Should be just about the right time.

The beauty of no kids. Small back seat means little to me.

Been driving my new Q8 for almost a month now, and am very happy with it. Now that I'm through the initial break-in period, I am finding the power exceeding my expectations, yet getting reasonable fuel economy for a 5000 lb machine. It's surprisingly nimble with with the 4-wheel steering.

I cross-shopped the X5 and while the newest iteration has a lot of great features, I found the Q8 subjectively more appealing. Plus, between my spouse and I having previously bought 5 Audis from the local dealer, I was able to get a very good deal on the Q8.

Of course, an SQ8 or better yet, an RSQ8 would be beastly!

I'm definitely going to look into offers when I get a chance, but I'm eagerly awaiting the 2020 X5M. The engine is the same in the M5 and likely using the same transmission so shouldn't have too many mechanical first year gremlins. A 600 plus hp awd tech'd out super SUV is starting to fit me very well nowadays. My beautiful F80 will go bye bye though.

Hmmm, intersting. Made me look that up. So there is an SQ8 coming after all although we don't know if it's coming stateside.
This would be nice.

One of the things I like about the BMW are the driving dynamics. I've seen people track a tuned diesel X5 and the way an X5M handles is pretty incredible. The current generation X6M was within a few seconds of an M3 at the 'ring. The M's handling breaks the laws of physics.

The Audis are really nice though and an S model which in N America aren't too far off RS models (that don't make it stateside) are monsters. The problem is Audi usually prices them comparable to full M or AMG cars.

If God really listened to prayers the RS6 Avant would finally come to the US. I would be buried in that thing.

They are about to start building the X5M in Spartanburg. Up until now, it was just the M trim/badging package. It was sent off to have the motorsport engine put in. I have several buddies that work over there and they're excited. I would stay away from the X7 for a while. They have quite a few bugs to work out. If you buy one, do the BMW experience. They have a pretty cool track near the manufacturing facility.

I wish BMW would say “F— It” and stuff a V12 into the X5M like they did with the X5 Lemans..... it will never happen, I know... I’m just bored at work and day dreaming....

Sometimes when I’m having a bad day this 30 second clip puts a smile on my face.

Plenty of great options in this segment. The Audi is great looking and so it the new X5. The etron SUV is also very cool.
MB needs to do some work on the mid/larger size SUV. The E looks dated to me. Much prefer the GLC 63 looks wise. Probably a little more bang for the buck with the AMG lines. Oh and since you ordered a Porsche the Macan and Cayenne need a hard look as well.
I am still 1.5 years out on my lease. Top of the list is the GLC63 right now followed closely by the Macan Turbo. A lot can change between now and then.

Also been toying with the idea of buying a Wrangler for the winter and then getting a straight sports car for the rest of the year. Last few cars have been AWD convertibles that are a nice mix for all year but winter does put a beating on the paint. I try not to think about it too much...LOL...I can drive myself nuts with the car thing.

I am in the market potentially for the X3M and can't wait to see and drive it in person. I love the GLC 63 engine but the interior is beyond outdated. Just a real shame the glc won't get a complete redo like the 2020 Gle anytime soon. I currently have an older X5 4.8i as my dog hauler so will look into the 2019 X5 and love the new 50i v8 twin turbo engine. I am very disappointed in Audi all their suv engines are piss poor on performance even the Sq5 is slow. Audi needs to bring their RS versions of their suvs to the usa asap.

LOL, the GLC was first introduced in 2015. I agree the interior could use some improvements. The 2020 GLE interior looks awesome. Also has some really cool tech features. No word on AMG options yet that I can find.

Guys, it’s nit really a comparison.

Just a comment on two new cars.

And just saw the 8 again yesterday. Wow. The lines are incredible. Big red break calipers. It looks really really nice.

You know, the 8 does look small. I haven’t read much on it yet. But for sure it looks relatively small. And sexy.

Lmao. Apparently I do.

I’m really drawn to the Q8. When it’s got an S in there, I imagine my attraction will grow.

My lease is actually up in two years (not 1 as I had thought), so I’ve got plenty of time. But if I were looking today, this would be at the top of my list.

We may be on the same plan then! Go figure, about 2 yrs left as well, so just in time for the S which is due . The Q8 is bigger inside than the Q7, wider and more space in the second row than the Q7. I was impressed sitting in one last weekend. Got the little gerbil wheels spinning in my head. This is a mini Lamborghini Urus, very very similar lines.

will be getting a wife a q8 in the next few weeks. Trying to decide color is the hardest part. We like the bolder colors like the teal and the orange.

The one I sat in and spent some time with was that orange with black interior. Very bold to say the least. I think I would get the black boring color! Looks beastly
