Patience is a virtue 15202 incoming

I had a 15400 for a little while about a year or so ago, but found the case to be too big for my tiny wrist. At that time I still didn’t really know much about APs, especially most of their watches are kind of similar in my opinion. Finally learned the existence of 15202 through the forums and started looking at it on and off. Was close to buying one via the trusted sellers but decided to give it one last shot.

So I was in HK and Macau last week with a friend picking up his offshore. And we just went around all those ap boutiques and in Macau they had a 15202BA in stock. Tried it on, liked it but didn’t love it. Seriously contemplated buying it but didn’t end up pulling the trigger.

After returning to China, all of a sudden received a call from my buddy that one of the boutiques had one in stock and he was looking right at it. Dropping everything I was doing and drove across town right away. Was told needed to buy another watch with it. Given wife’s birthday is coming up I had no problem picking out a ladies watch for her.

Can’t be happier about the watch. Must admit a lot of the early desire for this watch was driven by its massive popularity, but now having it in hand I must say it’s every bit as advertised. Now I can happily call an end to my sports watch collection (won’t happen) and focus on dress watches

Pretty much the holy trinity of sports pieces right there. How fabulous.

Also curious what your better half received

Yeah, thats what I was thinking. Meanwhile, we blast people for "flipping" watches yet bend over for boutiques and AD's who do this sort of practice. Probably would have been better off buying the 202 from a gray and getting the wife's at a deep discount.

But hey, as long as OP is happy!

Well, they did give a discount for the ladies watch. I don't even remember the model number

As far as "bending over" for the boutiques/ADs, this is how I see it. Did I pay a premium for 5711 or Daytona? No, and I wouldn't ever because I/my parents have a very strong relationship with the AD. Do I have a relationship with the AP boutique? No. They are in the business of trying to make money, and they got to cater to those who are likely to spend the most. I'm just some dude who walked in off the street, wanting to buy their most popular model, that every client who doesn't yet have one probably wants one. Why would they sell it to me, vs someone who has a relationship with them? If I were in their position, I know I wouldn't.

Now if they told me to buy whatever, and they'll put me on a phantom list with no set date of receiving it, then, no I wouldn't do it. I'm still ok with it though because they have the leverage.

Just like I have zero issue with people flipping, it's their watch, they can do whatever with it.
