16713 GMT extension link question

Hello, just picked up a 1997 GMT 16713 S series watch. It has a 93153 bracelet with 401B end links. It also has a flight suit extension. Can you tell me, is the flight suit extension supposed to stay snapped together or does it open up each time you remove the watch?

Its kinda like a jig saw puzzle trying to put it back on your wrist. So I am looking for solutions. Is there a way to remove it completely? I dont see how unless theres a way to buy an additional link that doesnt have that extension on it or does it need a bend to snap back together like a loose bracelet poping open?

Thanks in advance, Jim

The second set of holes in the clasp are meant to capture the heads of the rivet in the center-hinge of the extension blades.

It will hang from that rivet position, so, no - it does not stay tucked inside like the 93250 would.

If the blade simply brushes the rivet head but it doesn't click in, press the edges of the clasp together to provide more friction.
