Imagine a Rolex GMT with a sapphire bezel...

Was in the GS forum and saw user JR16's new GS GMT, and it got me thinking.

Why doesn't Rolex put out something similar to the bezel on the Grand Seiko - a sapphire GMT bezel that would make their GMTs look closer to the original 6542?

I know "cerachrom" (i.e. ceramic) bezels are all the rage, but imagine if the bezels looked like those below...just WOW.

Had a sapphire bezel on my Ball Are GMT and really liked it. It was filled with glass tubes that glowed 24/7, which I'm sure added to the enjoyment.

I mentioned the exact same thing on WUS a while back, and we’re surely not the only ones to have thought about this either, but the reality is that Rolex don’t go backwards with their designs and cerachrom is just how it is no matter how much of a “wow” idea it would be.

Since Tudor has lume in the Pelagos' ceramic bezel, I'd expect Rolex to go in that direction before going the sapphire route.

I really love the way the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms executed their sapphire, lumed bezel.

I also like that it has two sets of GMT numbers so you can easily read local plus two time zones.

Yep, sapphire/lumed bezel fan here although I can't see Rolex picking this up. Would be nice if they did though. The Pelagos insert is my fave from the Rolex/Tudor watches with rotatable bezels.

LOVE the bezel, wish Rolex did but fear they will never.

Rolex wont do it. Tudor did it in ceramic.

Don’t see it happening sadly but would be amazing. Maybe on the next gen GMT but that’s probably a decade away.

Nah, I for one love the damage I do to my eyes when I’m trying to charge my watch with my phone

I am not a fan of fragile bezels. I will pass.

My SBGE 201 has arrived some days ago and I am very much in love with it!

The sapphire bezel has been already mentioned and the secondhand sweep is gorgeous!

My favourite 2 details are:

1. The micro surface structure on the hour markers, that facets the light into rainbow colours!

2. The little luminous dot at 12 on the minutering! Every other manufacturers would have cost-cutted this out. GS takes the effort because they do such things!
