YG sports model dilemma...

Hey guys! So a bit of a dilemma here... I'm actually in the market for a YG sports model and my local AD has both 116618LB with blue face and the 116718LN with black face in stock. I tried on both models and loved both... I know the saying here is buy whatever sings more to you but the problem is both sang the same way to me haha. My collection right now consists of AP 15400 black dial, 126660 black dial, BLNR, and a DateJust 41 with blue dial, flutted bezel and jubilee bracelet. What would you buy??

LB looks better outdoors/day and LN better indoors/night.

Blue all the way... that blue is arguably the nicest blue any brand makes.

I voted for the 116718 because that’s what I did when faced with a similar situation. However, if it’s the sunburst dial version of the sub it’s a VERY close call for me.

Ultimately, for me it came down to the slightly thinner gmt caseback being more comfortable

I’m not a huge fan of the YG GMTc insert (numerals seem too yellow), so I’ll go for the LB Sub here.

Black is classically nice but the blue sunburst is stunning.

If you plan on getting both, I'd get the GMT. Because it is discontinued and nobody knows when and if it will be re-released. But, if you are only going to get one I vote the LB. That blue sunburst dial and blue bezel is stunning. Also all the watches you have have darker appearance to them (including DJ I'd argue), LB is much lighter. So if you don't plan to get the other one down the line, definitely go for LB.

It’s you. And lighting. Ceramic is very reflective

Yeah, lighting does do that sometimes. I sometimes used to look at pics of my watch and notice what looks like a crack, then look at it IRL and not notice them. Then I got used to noticing that it was lighting. I guess your bezel being blue instead of black makes it more prominent.

since you have 3 black dial watches i would go with blue, and i think its different enough from the datejust blue to make it worthwhile

I'd too would go with the 116618LB. But if you were considering the 116718 with the green dial my vote would be different.

I had trouble deciding between these two. I live in Florida and with all the sun we get here I felt like the blue worked better. Cant go wrong with either.

Go blue! BLNR fills the GMT spot nicely in your collection.

I think those two are the best two YG sports watches Rolex makes and could easily coexist in a collection. One way of thinking would be to buy the GMT first because it’s discontinued (seemingly). Another way of thinking is to get the LB because you already have a GMTIIC and no Subs.

In your situation, I’d get the YG Sub first then add the GMT later. I think the YG Sub LB wins by a small but respectable margin. TBH, I’m wearing my 116618LB right now, so there is some bias!
