Icon4 Help buying exclusive rolex from AD?

Hello guys, so I'm graduating this month, and I want to buy a new GMT, either stainless bicolor, or rose gold two tone , I tried my AD here in Miami, but no luck. Does any of you know any AD that has any of them ? I would really appreciate it.

Thanks

Unlikely, if this is your first purchase at AD

You will like have to pay market value for BLRO or BLNR

Congratulations on the graduation - wish I would have better news - but as previously mentioned - based on where the market is — the probability of getting a ‘hot’ reference with no prior relationship is unfortunately quite low.

It never hurts to ask though...you might get lucky.

Good luck - and again, Congrats!!!!

By market value you mean, a marked up price by one of the jewelers ?

Stick to the CHNR (two tone rose gold) most dealers can get them within 6 weeks.

And by marked up this means 2-3x MSRP unfortunately.
Congrats on your graduation.

The GMT's are in very high demand, well in excess of supply. David S Williams (aka DavidSW) is one of several "trusted" aftermarket sellers, well known here on TRF.

Here's his current listing of GMT's:

https://davidsw.com/watches/rolex/gmt-master/

He has a brick and mortar store in Orlando.

No doubt there's many Official Rolex dealers (we call 'em AD's) in/near Miami. Finding one with a GMT available for sale will be difficult, if not impossible.

Good luck!

The TT GMT’s are out there. May take a little leg work (personal visits). I’ve been offered a couple. The stainless will be next to impossible without strong prior history with the AD or purchasing a PM piece to open the door.

Nope, sorry. Two tone CHNR is probably your best bet though.

I’ve been wanting to ask that question, is the CHNR gmt hard to get? What’s the wait time on one? I only bought a sub from my AD but no other purchases or history.

this one actually seems reasonable to me... If its one you'd consider.
by stainless bicolor do you mean TT steel and gold?

https://davidsw.com/watches/rolex-wa...r-ii-18k-ss-3/

Bobs watches has one even cheaper.

Bicolor is a common synonym for two tone SS & Gold in some parts of the globe.

If you are looking for a iconic GMT Master II that will go down into history as almost an one off, I suggest you pick up the 116710LN, which can still be found around 9-11k USD.

David SW has one listed with full box an papers in a like new condition at 9.9k.

https://davidsw.com/watches/rolex-wa...t-master-ii-2/

Its a good deal, even before the discontinued the model and amazing bargain if you ask me now that they stopped it. I've recently picked one up right before they discontinued and its the watch that has seen the most wrist time and its got competition in from 3 royal oaks, 3 offshores, a submariner, a grand complication and a salmon dial VC overseas.

Go in the AD with your sub and with a bit of luck he will get you a CHNR

Last month I went into an AD with my Air-King on. Said my dream watch was a CHNR and that I had got the AK from him..he said he would help my dream come true and said he would put me on the list.... within 5 day
I was the proud owner of a TT rose gold GMT..
So you need to ask... I think he felt sorry for me having to wear an Air-King:-)

Any SS or TT GMT is unlikely to be had at ADs.

First something to clarify, if by "stainless bicolor" you mean SS with two color bezel, there are two of them. BLNR with black-blue bezel and BLRO with blue-red bezel, also nicknamed Batman and Pepsi. New version of Batman was just released and nobody knows what will happen with its price on grey market. Pepsi in SS was released last year and its prices went through the roof.

Now, the question is, are you OK paying over retail or not? If you are, most likely your cheapest option is CHNR (also known as rootbeer or RG TT), which is counter intuitive as it has highest MSRP, but it often sells for less than BLRO and BLNR at grey dealers.

If you aren't OK paying over retail you have 3 options:
1. Wait. (WLs can be varying in length, from a couple of weeks for less desirable models to, allegedly, 10 years, for BLNR or BLRO I assume 2-4 years, for CHNR I would imagine 2-6 months)
2. Get other Rolex, e.g. as far as I can see DSW is still selling previous TT GMT, unworn for 13.2K USD, which I believe was right around US MSRP. Explorer II can be had for under MSRP (especially used), etc.
3. Finally, look at other brands.

Afraid no Rolex watch is exclusive some are hard to get at retail at the moment but Rolex is a mass produced product turning out around 800000 watch units a year.

Call all the AD’s in Miami, ask them, and ask to be put on WL and be patient.

Go see them in person, your odds go up a touch face to face. The AD’s phone ring off the hook from callers all over the country. F2F will let them know you are local and serious. You are still likely to wait, but maybe not as long. Good luck.
