I agree. Was in the same boat. I would add Explorer is one and the only one - OP many variants.

I am fortunate enough to have both. The Exp Mk 1 was purchased in 2015 and the OP39 white in late 2018.
The case size and shape are perfect for my 6.5" wrist, so they wear the same. It really comes down to personal taste. I think the OP39 White 'pops' more and I love looking at that clean dial. White is so versatile, it work with jeans & t-shirt, up to a formal suit. If I had to chose between the two, I would go for the OP. |

Get either the OP white or black. OP are the original explorers that went to Everest it wasn’t an explorer they had on it was Oyster Perpetual! The only thing I like about the explorer is the hands, I don’t like the 3,6,9 or the flat crown logo.

I would take the MK2 Explorer 214270 over the OP39.
Is there a reason why you wanted the MK1 dial? I like the OP39, but the bezel shape bugs me a bit. |

I have both, or close to it (my Exp is Mk II). If the OP had the Exp's bezel and an Easy Link, I would almost say it would be pretty darn close to perfect. I love the white dial (to me it photographs as cream, but IRL looks silver) and stick hands - I don't love the bezel though, but it's a nice piece - if I could only have one of the two, I am not sure which way I would go, but this week I would probably say Exp, next week that might change, lol.

If OP I would wait and buy 2-3yo much cheaper. Hit on new OP is huge as for Rolex brand.

If you can afford it, get both. I have the Mk1 Explorer 214270 and continue to love it. Given the chance and means, I'd be happy to own the white OP as well.
