116508 Discount at AD

Hello -

I'm currently considering a 116508 (YG Daytona)... What discount should I be expecting from an AD. MSRP is 35,000.

Thanks,

Jauri

Ask for 50%
If you don't ask

I only ask since I'm getting no discount, when I've gotten 15-25% off other PM pieces before.

They said that there is no discount? That’s weird. I was offered a discount on an oysterflex. It was only 5% but better than nothing.

Times are different now. I remember 15-25% off of PM pieces but that was during the period of time when we were coming out of the Financial Crisis.

A little over a year ago, I got offered 10% off that same reference right off the bat, without even bringing up the subject of a discount. About a month ago, at the same AD, I was lightly asking about a discount and they said likely none...Who knows, if I was really serious about buying and pushed on it, I may get something off, but it definitely felt like the climate had changed and they did not seem eager to wheel and deal on price.

AND, this was literally the weekend BEFORE the latest Mayer TW episode and they were already telling me demand for PM Daytona’s were high. Imagine it has only gone higher.

For context, this was a high volume Los Angeles AD, smaller markets may differ.

I was at a high volume AD in LA as well. I got a Smurf 4 months ago with 10% off. Surprised no discount on any PM Daytonas for a repeat customer...

Yeah, the same place was telling me they had a customer pay upfront IN FULL for the YG/green dial and they had to refund his money because they simply could not get one delivered. And again, this was BEFORE the Mayer TW episode. Crazy times.

Yeah, pricing on the green dial has gone bananas. Is that the one you are interested in? If so, no chance of a discount at an AD. For some reason I was assuming you were interested in the YG with a black dial - which is also 116508.

No chance of a discount on the green.

I would think about 10% but it seems that some others are being told the same thing. If it’s a the green dial version you are fortunate to be getting it at all from AD.

No discount on 116508 with green dial. They actually sell for a premium on the grey market. Long wait times from ADs too.

ADs are lucky to see more than one of these per year so the odds of discounts on it are almost non existent.

It’s a safe bet these days if it sells for a premium (and this does) then RRP is the best price you will get.
