WOW - I love material things, who doesn't? But there are def much more important things in life. I dont think your wife knows how lucky she is, seriously. It must have been so hard to ask these things of you - and you fully complied. Kudos to you my friend, may you be a role model to myself and many other married men out there. This is the epitome of marriage, together as one. And you my friend have done exactly so - something very hard to find these days.

Hang in there, I know this IS a watch forum, but seriously its JUST A WATCH. I hope and wish that your wife's start-up is FULLY successful and that you can one day get the Daytona back!! Good things comes to those who wait, and karma will come back around to reward you for being who you are. Good luck and be well.

Howard, you seem like a wonderful person and I have NO DOUBT that you will own another Rolex when the time is right!

As the others have said, in the end, what is truly most important (as you know), is your health and relationship with your spouse and family. A watch is a watch is a watch......

Most of us here have been through tough times and while it's not always fun to 'sacrifice', it's life. Wishing your wife all the best in her business endeavors!

Boa: I easily understand your feelings, but you are doing the right thing, and your generous gesture will be most appreciated by your wife and never forgotten.
Your nice act will be compensated, and you´ll be able to have a new Rolex in your wrist sooner than you think, as soon as your wife business is running.
You´ll be more than satisfied then, both for your acting and for your new watch. You deserve that pal!

I admire you my man. You have great love for your wife and you will be just fine. I would do the same thing. You will miss the things,,,just things remember,,,,and you will one day replace them. I feel your pain. In a (sort of) similar situation I had to part with a Rolex that had been with me for over 25 years. As much as we love 'em, they are only material objects. Your wife is certainly more important and there will always be plenty of watches around when you're ready to get back into the game.

Wow - That is just awesome that you are supporting your DW like that. I don't think I could ever ask my DH to give up his Rolex - and fortunately I don't have to but I give you credit for supporting her. Mine supported me in my pursuit of my Master's Degree which can be very expense and I really appreciate him for that. It paid off, and I now have a very well paying job - so I have hopes that the same will happen for you.

Hmm, sorry for being hard nosed. Please judge the business objectively. Is the business going under regardless of how many daytonas you're going to throw at it, or you are using the money to grow / expand, especially in this tight environment? Only you two can make this decision and try to analyse it from your banker's point of view. Is the business a good risk? That's what I would ask. Sometimes emotions will run very high but gotta learn when to let go.
If everything's fine then just consider above as a selfish guy's mumbo jumbo.

Howard, I am sure that you and Gina will come through this just fine. You made some huge sacrifices and I applaud you for that.

I just hope the next time you are in town we can get together. FWIW, both pieces are replaceable.....and I know you really wanted a white dial Daytona anyways!

Exactly last year at this time, I got rid of my other Bluesy in order to pay up for my "leaky building" problems.

Guess what? A year later, the good Lord rewards me with another Bluesy and I'm now back on my feet.

i have had to sell one rolex only to gain 2 then 3 then had to sell them all and i wound up with a one Sub so there are several bumps in the road. Good Luck!
