McLaren 570s vs Audi R8

In a position to potentially pick up one of these as a business expense for the new venture I’ve recently started.

Pretty set on the McLaren, but curious what some of you car guys think. Reviews of both talk about near to perfect cars.

Keeping the 911 Targa GTS. This will be purely a summer car that goes to the track (just for fun, not time) and various events. The 911 would be my trip car and my typical weekender/grocery getter. So comfort isn’t the goal here. Adrenaline is.

I’ve got a 570 picked out and numbers are being worked up. But I’m not set and I’ve explained to my sales guy that I’m getting closer, but I’m not there.

Any thoughts? Anyone have or had either of these?

Out of the two, I would say 570. Don't get me wrong the R8 is an amazing car but something about a McLaren to me is a little more special (stands out more) if that makes sense lol

since you have that Ferrari dream I think you should get a used certified california or 458/488 right now i think they are doubling extended warranty if you buy one. McLaren is a gorgeous car though saw them at the greenwich dealership. I vaguely recall them being very good deals on used modern McLarens

Good memory. I’d love to go Ferrari.

The challenge here is a lease is a much better write off. And as far as I know, you can’t lease a used car.

It makes a lot of sense.

Both clearly stand out. But the McLaren is definitely a bit more exotic imo.

Seth. My buddy has a 570s. Said it’s the best car he’s ever owned. He’s had Ferrari’s, Audi R8, AMG and a few others I can’t remember. He wants a 720s next.

McLaren 570s vs Audi R8

Nice. Mclaren of course.

R8 is outdated. Too many around. A dime a dozen it seems. Saw 3 of them last week. I saw 1 mclaren but less of them. However I only see one 488 in the wild unless I attend a car event. Too many billionaire in my area lol

Gotta slammed that mclaren.

I prefer 488 Ferrari instead. Of course. Slammed it.

You can definitely lease a pre-owned exotic.

Nice position to be in. One of my colleagues had a mclaren it was pretty sweet and not something you see often. We have 3 R8s in parking lot now...

The Audi will be less of a maintenance nightmare but the McLaren will be the rock star between the two.

Ferrari, Audi, you should get the McLaren. The guy above who owned both is preaching the truth. McLaren, in my opinion lis the best and smartest move.

The 570 for sure. No doubt. It’s masterful.

Oh boy. You have mentioned the Mac a few times in our conversations, I say give that one a try and get it out of your system. It is a special car, that's for sure. Have you got it speced yet?

I LOVE the R8. But, in this case I’d say The 570. It’s just too cool.

Speaking as someone with no hands-on with either car (just a victim of drool), the McLaren is more drool-worthy. Parked near one daily while we were in Vegas.

McLaren! Also, are you hiring?

Tracked the McLaren and it was awesome! The instructors said it would be the fastest around the track but they had only had it a week. The 911 was the current fastest (vs GTR, R8, Ferrari, lambo, etc).

I like the R8 more since it has NA engine. That noise is such a blast. Nothing beats a NA engine sound.
Cheers.

Gotta be the mac Seth. You already own a 911 so this purchase is clearly an emotional rather than logical one. The Mac is just more special.

Let’s get the spec thread going here lol

Have driven the 570S and standard V10 R8. My thoughts-

I pick the 570S. It is such a glorious machine. So devoid of the 'speed/performance at all costs' mentality that plagues other cars. It feels wholly natural, engaging, precise, and fun. The responsiveness, weight, and feeling of the controls are as close to perfect as I've ever experienced in a car. Have not driven the RWS R8, but having driven the standard car, I bet it's pretty damn good.
Really, you can't go wrong regardless of your choice.

Mac may be a "different animal" in terms of outright performance however the R8 is no slouch.

From Mclaren ownership of super series cars, I had a great 3 years of ownership despite the 100+k loss I took and every time starting the car up a different electrical light flashing or something beeping prompting a shut down, lock car, ecu reset then it going away (and my ferrari ff/f12 the same exact way) which gets bothersome.

Which leads me to my Lamborghinis , Gallardo Se and Superleggera now a Performante Spider, I've owned them combines for 0ver 6 years, 15k + miles combined, 3 road trips in the US in my superleggera, the most rock solid bulletproof supercar/machine. Never in the shop once other than for fluid changes and routine maintenance.

Audi product and that v10 are unmatched by turbo cars FOR ME, even tho I do still have and love turbo cars theres nothing like the NA v10!

IMO, my AMG GTS Ed 1 or AMG GTR are way way way more fun emotionally, way more lively and playful than my mclaren was and the 570, gearbox connection pops and bangs, sound etc all speak to me and its a fast/stout performer and handler as well.. just not going to give you the exotic factor you want I'm assuming

These are just my personal ownership experiences and opinions, I guess take it for what its worth.

I drove my mclaren from Florida to NY, had a gearbox fault, several air brake faults on tail of the dragon, just so annoying with the electrical quirks and gremlins in the mp4/650s! 570 may be more solid but my buddy with his 570 also had nagging things

With the audi? Im sure nothing if its like my lambo experiences
