Hey, could you please explain how you use the gmt 24h bezel as a chronometer?

The bezel, in my eyes, is similar to boobs - terrific to play with

I need the 24 hour bezel, I don’t need it to rotate.

How many GMT's do you think see the cockpit of a plane or wrist of a globe trotter?

I dunno. I suspect a solid proportion of people who can afford a Rolex also travel to other time zones at least occasionally, or at least know people in other time zones so that it's useful to know the time there.

Of course, there's a sense in which anyone who can do basic math doesn't need the GMT function at all, but in a global world I think the concept at least is fairly broadly applicable.

I used to use the rotating Bezel slide rul function on my Breitling Navitimer to calculate time to climb, fuel burn etc. It’s come in handy when things changed quickly. But in Breitlings, I suspect that 90% of these rotating bezels have never been used.

As an ER doc, in theory you could use one to calibrate iv dose administration.

I use the bezels on my subs to time parking, cooking, etc. I actually find them better than my chronometers because the older I get, the more difficult the sub dials are to read. If I'm wearing my Polar or Z-Blue, I just have to wing it!

I do the same with my sub. Timer or countdown and I use it quite a bit. I also use it for dives.

Although I did use my Submariner date for SCUBA diving, I would also use the rotating bezel for determining the time in the UK, whilst I was sailing deep-sea, half way around the globe. Depending on which time zone we were sailing in, I would set the "triangle-marker" to the number of hours ahead or behind the ship's position. So, for example, if we were steaming at GMT+ 8, I would set the triangle-marker to the "8" index and use the hour hand to tell the time at our current position and in the UK. 08:00hrs local corresponds to 00:00hrs (midnight) GMT.
Conversely, if we were sailing in the eastern hemisphere, I would set the marker to the corresponding "number" in the opposite half of the dial. For example, GMT-8 the marker would be set to the "4" index. It was quite handy, since the only marine chronometers onboard were situated in the wheel-house and being an Engineering Officer I spent all my working time in the engine room.
I have since invested in a Sky-Dweller and CHNR. I'm still over-seas.

I’m in the minority probably. I’m a pilot so the GMT is of use to me on trips. I use my Sub to time parking meters and when grilling.

I don't use the rotating bezel on my sub.
And I certainly can't understand how to use the bezel on my Daytona.

I just love the way they look.
That's all.

Right now, I'm just excited to get my new DJ on my wrist tomorrow. But from looking at the models with the rotating bezels, the Explorer II is the only one that seems like it'd work for me to look professional in business casual and not high speed/low drag. At the same time, the Explorer II seems to be the red headed step child of the rotating bezel Rolex family.

When I am at the office and can skip out for a 40 minute or an hour run, I align the bezel to the current minute hand and this keeps me on track to start my return to the office at the half way mark (20 minutes or 30 minutes respectively). Very handy. I wish the Apple Watch has a digital feature like this.

The Explorer II bezel doesn't rotate.

I don’t think the Explorer II bezel can rotate, it’s fixed

I use both a subc and gmt for timing multiple times a day. Mostly cooking. GMT is used on out of home time zone 15 to 20 times a year.

i use it for it’s intended purpose sometimes or as a timer but my wife just likes to turn it at random. it’s so well engineered it’s satisfying to turn.

Given my tendency to forget where I parked my car, I use the bezel to indicate the general direction of my parking slot.
Prior to entering mall entrance, I face the parking lot and adjust the bezel to point approximately where I parked.
Not too precise but helps me determine to go left or right and at what angle.

Ahem, one of the more expensive fidgit spinners! I rarely use the rotating bezel on any of my watches that spin. Sometimes, I'll notice it was clicked into the "59" position & it gives me an excuse to spin it. Also, I daily wear a chronograph & have only twice used it to time something. Sometimes, if I'm bored, I will try to stop & start the chrono hand to match the running seconds. I often lose that game. There always seems to be a delay.

For anyone that hikes, the bezel can be used to locate North/South...

Hold your watch with the flat surface parallel to the ground.

Keeping it parallel to the ground, rotate it until the hour hand points in the general direction of the sun.

In the morning, south lies about halfway between the hour hand and twelve o’clock, measuring clockwise. Rotate the bezel to align the "12" with the halfway point to indicate South.

In the afternoon, south lies about halfway between the hour hand and twelve o’clock, measuring counter-clockwise. Rotate the bezel to align the "12" with the halfway point to indicate South.

North, of course, will be located opposite the "12".

I like different watches for different purposes. There's something sublime about a simple three handed watch but I do tend to gravitate toward chronographs and divers, as they are useful to me for timing calls and meetings with clients and parking and garage meters.
