Second hand moves when setting minutes counter clockwise Late 70s women’s date just
When backing up minute hand on late 70s women’s gold date just second hand moves backwards several seconds Rolex said it is normal on older movements thoughts as to why this is ? Anyone have an explanation? Watch was just serviced at Rolex service center.

When the hands are moved backward you are moving the gear train in the opposite direction that it normally goes. That is the reason the hand starts to tick backward. It has a lot to do with the tightness of the cannon pinion too, but I won't get into that.

my old 1680 does this also, it hasnt been serviced for a while and usually this is the sign that its time

Doesn't matter.
There is slack in the gear-train of any mechanical movement or it won't function. Turn the gears in the opposite direction and you will always take up that, slack and potentially see that at the hands.

My watch has been doing that for as long as I can remember. It has never gotten worse, so I never worried.
