If you lift, do you wear your Rolex in the gym?

I’m not talking about machines, but barbells.

Normally I wouldn’t wear my Sub to the gym but I forgot to take it off before I left home the other day. My gym is a bare bones kind of place without lockers, so that wasn’t an option (not sure I would have been comfortable with it even if it were). Didn’t feel comfortable leaving it in the car. So I just used my glide lock and put the watch on above my wrist wraps. Felt forty kinds of weird and I was definitely concerned I would smack the ceramic into something.

It ended up fine, but got me wondering what the rest of you do. I certainly don’t see watches at my gym (maybe the occasional Apple Watch). Do you wear your Rolex to lift? If not, where do you leave it, especially if you can’t go directly from home to the gym?

No

I use my Apple watch which tells me my heart rate, calorie burn and can keep me connected to my phone, texts and emails.

Where do you leave your Rolex, especially if you aren’t coming directly from home?

No. When I used to go to the gym after work I would just hide it in my car before I was in the gym parking lot. A quick smash and grab I doubt anyone would find it. Now I built out a gym at work and home so no longer an issue.

No, not at all. Then again my training is a bit all over the place - yoga, CrossFit, F45, boxing. Maybe if I stopped this, I could afford more watches.

But, I have seen guys wear their Rolex watches when lifting. Scares me to death.

Yes wear one of my watches in the gym every time.

Watches are there to be worn, just have to be careful depending on what you are doing.

Good call. Hide it *before* you get there. Will have to work on exactly where to do that.

Jealous of your basement gym! The only place I could do that would be my garage, and I enjoy parking there too much.

Lock the glove compartment. That’s what I do.

Ofcourse I wear my Rolexes. All I do at the gym is lifting weights basically. Wouldn't leave it in a shady locker and why bother taking it off? I'm sure most of us have created a certain wrist awareness, so why would you worry about smashing your wrist especially in the gym? I'm never worried about it because I'm always aware.

Now, I wouldn't take my phone with me; I want to work out while I'm at the gym, not answer phonecalls that can wait 9 out of 10 times..

I am in the same boat as Brian; my Apple Watch only sees wrist time at the gym. I love how I can program intervals and HIIT with it, along with timing, heart rate, and shuffling through music while connected to the iPhone.

For the latter part of the question, I always leave the nicer watches at home since the gym is only two minutes away.

No, but it isn’t because of potential damage, it’s because it would be uncomfortable and wrist flex would be an issue with a bracelet

I wear my rubber band TAG Aquaracer 43mm when I workout. I really like this watch for working out since the large face helps my old eyes monitor the second hand to time sets.

nope.

nothing to do with the watch, just hate anything on my hands or wrists when lifting/exercising. I take my wedding ring off when working out too.

I wear an Enso ring. Can’t wear anything but a wedding band for martial arts and I hate getting punched with metal, so I got it to be nicer to defense partners (and in case I ever break a finger—much safer). They’e silicone bands. Worth checking out. Super comfy and they have some that actually look like metal now. There are several brands but these are the ones I’ve worn.

I'm always going straight from home to the gym, so no. Don't like anything on my wrists or hands when working out, either weights or cardio.

I did see a guy at my gym recently on the weight machines whilst wearing his Hulk. Struck me as kinda funny.

We have had a few threads about this iirc.

I would never train with it on (obviously when boxing / coaching)
Leave it at home / car glove box / locker if decent gym.

I have one I use on vacations and stuff. Don't wear it for working out though.

Not a lifter. I need to go to gym in order to get permitted to an upcoming adiposity surgery. I don't do anything fancy, can't anyway - so it's down to just walking the treadmill or if I want to go a little (very little) faster, I use a cross trainer. I keep my watch on.

Kind regards,
Oliver
