OP asked and each shared his personal experience. Mine is like that. If he could avoid taking it off, that would be splendid. But if not, just told him to take care, as there are many people tempted to get a Rolex for free.

I caught a rental guard on a power trip at the local courthouse when I was called for jury duty. He about had a seizure when I told him he could wand me, but the watch was staying put. I never get chosen for duty due to my profession, so I wasn't particularly concerned about making it inside, anyhow. Unfortunately, he deferred, and wanded me, wasting a couple hours of a weekday morning. |

Keep it on your wrist regardless even if they make you go thru an extended search. It's not worth taking off your wrist imo.

I just got back from my trip and went through 4 different security checkpoints. I left my watch on and the TSA didn’t even bat an eye. I didn’t run into any issues. Thanks for all the helpful responses.

Don't you guys set off the metal detector? My local airport's detector in the TRA Pre-Check lane is so sensitive, a belt buckle sets it off. Kind of defeats part of the purpose of Pre-Check.

I went through the body scan machines. It did flag my wrist, but security didn't do anything about it. They stopped me and showed me the scan saying something was under my belt. Once I showed them my belt buckle, they waved me through.

Never. Take. It. Off.
They will hand wand you if necessary. No need to xray a watch. Ever. |

I've never been asked to take it off. However, they do look a my wrist after I come through, then pass me on.

I travel every week and wear my various watches. I have never taken off my watch going through pre check. The standard security screening line may be more strict with the body scanner.

Half the time I use premium access to cut to the front of the line because TSA pre-check has a bunch of old people in it who haven’t flown in 20 years and were given the service as a promotion. In some airports like Denver, it takes longer to get through pre-check than cutting to the front of the regular line. It’s interesting to hear the experiences of some in this thread, because as somebody who flies around the US several times a month, I have never had issues with any watch I have worn through security. |

I normally just lift my wrist, move it left to right and yell "Do I need to take off my rollie?" while i'm still in line.
