Rolex Box Size for Platinum Daytona?

Hi all! I was just wondering if the actual box size matters when you finally end up selling or trading in your Rolex?

To go into more detail, I just picked up my Platinum Daytona yesterday. All the unboxing videos on YouTube shows that the PD comes with a large box, which has small compartments all around the center watch holder.

For those that has a PD, maybe you can please shed some light on this?

For those that sells/trades Rolex, will this affect the value...for instance, it was suppose to come in the larger box, but I just have a regular Rolex box?

Thank you in advance for all the help, before I contact my AD about this...

The platinum Daytona gets the XL box. It’ll say on your white hang tag as “Oyster XL”.

The boxes..small, medium, large, typically get mixed up between the SS, TT, models etc....
Usually the bigger boxes are pretty consistent, from my experience, when buying PM. But to your question....the box IS the x-large with smaller compartments, for the PT Daytona. And yes, I’d demand that box from the seller for sure, for this piece.
By the way....SUPER HUGE, BIG CONGRATULATIONS, ON A FANTASTIC WATCH!!

Yes, it comes with an extra large box. Even if it doesn’t matter to you, and I don’t use mine, it has value. Just like the (perhaps) extra platinum links you had removed to size your pt. Daytona. They are expensive as well. When someone buys your expensive watch, they most likely will want the correct box and links it should come with. For that much money, most buyers will want the complete package. And if you look on eBay, they are expensive to replace. I don’t recall how much, but you can search for it.

You bought a $70,000 watch, I think you should get the correct box.

Yes, size matters. Go back to the seller and get the correct box. Otherwise you will forever be questioning this.

You guys are awesome...thank you for your expertise!

I am going to contact my AD and let her know, since the box they gave me says "Oyster L". I am thinking it was just a mix-up, since they must have so many boxes in the back.

As everyone has said. Get the correct box from the seller. Demand it. It is only appropriate to have the XL box for all Platinum watches. No excuses. If your watch was bought at an AD shame on them for not handing you the correct box. If it was a TS, make them give you the correct box and send the smaller one back. Congrats on your watch!!

Thanks for enlightening me on the white hang tag showing which size box. Just went upstairs to check the boxes and noticed that all my wife's boxes are huge and shows Oyster XL on the hang tag.

She has been getting the good stuff all along...

AD Lady was probably very nervous as this purchase is not a typical one and simply grabbed the wrong box..

Now post a pic of your new box
