Actually the old price in Canada for a S/S Daytona with the older clasp was $9600 and if you got the new clasp it's $10050, Plus taxes in Canuck buck.

Nobody looks at the clasp, nor does it effect how the watch works.

Enjoy it!

but you know..

it's just the idea of buying something new only to learn that you didnt buy the newest that you would've expected in 2009?

It's all good, whether it's new clasp or old - it's a brand new watch. Just enjoy the watch. No one will bother to even look at your clasp.

Most Daytona owners here paid a premium or list price for thier brand new Daytona. Sometimes you just don't have the choice to choose between the two clasp designs when these watches are scarce.

Many prefer the older clasp.
Retail is still a fine price, premium was common for the past
few years.
Wear it and...
Enjoy the magic of the Daytona.

the weird thing is

the AD claimed to have recieved it himself that same day. it was still in the small plastic box when he took it out from the back. I guess its distribution and the US has a rate that moves a lot quicker than Canada? I still like my watch, esp. since I bonded with it after knowing I was getting it fresh off the boat

I believe all 4130 Daytona's had the new anti-magnetic spring. Whether they called it parachrom blue or not.

I posted it last time and here it is again. Enjoy the video....

The so-called "old clasp" has always been considered a thing of beauty from the day it hit the market. It is a solid piece of SS or gold, designed, formed, and polished into a work of art..

This single piece has been sought after for years as a replacement for any Rolex clasp if only a consumer could get his hands on it..

There is no question that Daytona's with that particular clasp will be more rare and looked for by collectors in the future....It will be a benefit..

The latest offering is not a "new" clasp, but the same cast channel offerings found on the rest of the line with only a couple of minor cosmetics on the outside..

... I'll take one with that "old" clasp on it any day of the week....

Would someone point me to a description or images of the old versus new clasp? I just got a SS Daytona white dial as my first Rolex a few weeks ago.

if you don't have the one shown by Larry then you have the newer clasp.
Felly Jr. had posted picture of the new bracelet. I can search for it.

Well then it appears I have the "old" clasp. I'm not complaining, I love my first Rolex. Now to decide between the GMT II and Submariner I drooled over at the Rolex Store at South Coast Plaza in Irvine California. This will become an expensive addiction :)
