What Does Your Woman Think Of Your Watch Obsession?!?

Hey Fellas or Ladies,

What does your partner think of your watch obsession?

My wife cannot fully understand what I see in watches. In fairness though, she authorized my last buy. And then she said, "this is the last time"!(No criticism from any of you on this one! Marriage is a two way street.)

Let me know if you feel like you're tip toeing around every time you open up that new Rolex Brochure and price list or if you find yourself looking over your shoulder anytime your logging on to TRF.

Can I get some support from you guys out there on TRF on this one!?

Please let me know I am not alone!

Please feel free to let my wife know I am not mad!!!!!

My wife doesn't understand the watch obsession either. My trick is to buy her a significant gift first (jewelry, purses, etc), then bring home the new Rolex.

Obviously this isn’t a common occurrence as I don’t have the funds to support two habits, but it has worked for the three watches I have purchased like a charm!

My wife thinks my watch obsession (that's what it is) is great. In fact, she bought my Longines for me out of the blue. When she graduated from medical school, she bought herself an Omega Seamaster that she loves. In fact, I think she wants a Rolex, which I intend to get for her soon.

my wife doesn't mind. In fact she always suggest we should go look at watches whenever we go past one. One brand she can not stand is Tag.
She has already picked out a tt rose gold date just for me but I'm trying to get her to like a daytona at the moment.
Don't think she would like a rolex though. She is an omega girl. She loves her seamaster aqua terra and speedy date. She was looking at the constillation not too long ago.

I always had cheapo watches before she bought me my GMT. I always liked watches and wanted an automatic. Now she thinks I should be satisfied with one. I love this watch and will never get rid of it but I like others too and would like to expand my "collection" (of one).

My wife is fine with it. She has a couple nice ones too.
Now, the girl who sat beside me at a Charity event last night, thought I was on par with a comic book geek.
She noticed the Panerai and started asking questions about it.
I might have well been speaking in a foreign language to her.
I tried putting it in female terms ( clothing, handbags, shoes) but she wasn't in to any of those.

I'll chime in, though my situation is a bit different since I have to 'hear it' from my HUSBAND!

We've had countless 'discussions' (OK, I mean arguments! ) over the years about my watch obsession.....when we met, he had an $80 Citizen and I had just bought my first fine watch, a Cartier Tank Francais mid-size. He couldn't believe that I spent over $2k for a watch!!!

Years later, while I'm STILL the WIS, he's been somewhat converted...he sports a Sub Date now that he adores! But I still have to hear it when I so much as mention thinking about another Rolex.....

As long as I get the dishes done, she is fine with me looking at watches.

So long as the watches to jewelry ration is 1:10, one should do fine.

Actually, there are many worse hobbies and interests. Buying a nice watch now and then is relatively pedestrian.

What I want to know is how the guys with boats get away with their hobby!

Well, my husband is a little fuzzy as to exactly what my midsize DJ cost, and I haven't yet broken the news to him about the vintage Rollie I have on layaway. The conversation when that little beauty finally makes it home is going to be interesting. But he does find the watch forum, watch research, and watch talk pretty funny. He not only doesn't get it, he doesn't even wear a watch himself.

The wife and I have an agreement. When ever I buy a watch, she does not have to have sex for a year with me.

My wife is responsible for turning me on to watches ("you need a nice watch"). Four years ago, I didn't even know what a rolex looked like, and I rarely wore a watch ("who needs a watch when you can just look at your cell phone?"). My wife bought me a movado. Then the madness started. She knew I had my eye on a TT blue sub, and she got it for me. Very cool. I told her that was the end all be all, and now I'm done. Ya. She grudgingly went along with my Daytona purchase just a year later, and only then because it was my 40th birthday. Of course, that REALLY was the grail watch and I was done. Now, after the SS sub, GMT IIc and yachtmaster, she wishes she never bought me that Movado. She doesn't understand the watch thing, or why I need more than one, but she also hasn't said I can never get another. Just not anytime soon...

My wife thinks I have a serious problem, and need professional help.
Few nights ago the wife and I felt a little frisky, so we broke out a dirty DVD
we started watching it a few minutes went by and all of a sudden I grab the remote control and I told her check this out I believe the guy is wearing a Rolex I hit the rewind and to the disappointment it was a fake.

Pretty sure the Rolex wasn't the only thing in that DVD that's fake!

At least something in that movie was exciting and stimulating

So, what, besides watches, did you compare?
