Service costs (North America)

Hey everyone,
Trying to branch out to AP, so I'm looking to purchase a used RO in the secondary market, but the one I'm looking into will be needing service since its last. Anybody have a clue as to what service costs are and also the estimated service times? I can find the prices on their website, but they are for AP Geneva. If I take it in to AD, will they be sending it to Geneva?

If you take it to an AD in the US it’ll go to Clearwater. You can also go around the AD and just send it to Clearwater yourself.

I believe the pricing is the same but the ladies in Client Care would be able to give you an estimate for time and pricing.

Thank you gentlemen. I’ll give the AP dealer a visit. A friend advised me that they also quote over the phone, but I assume that doesn’t go into specifics.

On the website it shows polishing and service as separate. Are they packaged together in the Clearwater service center?

Those are prices for AP Geneva, as it states on the website.

I have seen service cost receipts from $1200 to $15 000 on offshores. Its impossible to guess if one knows nothing about the piece in question.

Sorry, I haven’t checked the website recently, but I could have sworn they listed USD service prices on the website last year when I was scouring it after my purchase.

Looking at my current estimate...

ROO with chrono module replacement is $1500 They confirmed they will replace crystal, chrono pushers and crown as well as any worn movement parts.

RO 3 hand was less than $1k when I did it last year

Polish of case and bracelet $210
Rubber strap $291
Alligator strap $520
Hornback Croc $603
Extract of registers $260
Cert of authenticity (has to go to Switzerland) $1040

Estimated turnaround time is 7 weeks right now. Got a different service rep this time but he was great and VERY understanding of all my APs and the movements. WIS level for sure.

I want to say 7 weeks sounds super long and then I remember PPs are 7 months+

Agree. Warranty work gets priority and is usually less than a month. Less than 2 months for normal service is fair. They also said that 7 weeks is the longest it would take and they often come back in less time.

pretty sure service prices are all quoted in CHF... if you convert it you get a really good idea

Obviously the SC charges in local currency but yeah AFAIK the website lists the home currency

I've always gotten great service from APSC Clearwater but I have to say the communication on the this current service has been exceptional so far. Last time I sent a Rolex to RSC Dallas it just went into an abyss for 6 weeks and I had to call multiple times to check status.

Note that if you have a PM offshore try not to lose a pusher. I confirmed they replace the crystal, pushers and crown on all services of SS an Ti models during service but they reuse the PM ones. Pt replacement pusher is $883 each.

Yes, I had the OEM black dial since getting it new in 2012. I wanted to try out a new look so I requested to swap the dial. They were a bit resistant on me keeping the dial, but the rep I spoke with spoke to a higher-up who allowed the return of the original black dial. Now in a 5 or so years when the watch needs servicing, it would give me the option to swap back

Do they usually not return the dial if you swap it?

So they claimed, until I insisted that they include it with the return from service.

No, they will not. I asked about it as my first choice to swap.
