Heading out to get scammed on Craigslist RIGHT NOW!!!

I spotted this ad on Craigslist last night and told them I wanted to meet up. They wanted to meet in an affluent area of Los Altos at a bank. Bank is good.

The ad is suspicious alone. It is a "gift".

Then I called the number as I'm getting ready to leave. It went to a text-mail subscriber voice message. Now red flags are screaming. I txted and asked that the owner call me before I head out.

They called at it was a girl. I asked if it was her watch. She said it was a gift. I said I was going to have to open the watch up and inspect very diligently before handing over any money. She said that's fine. Says it is authentic.

So I'm going. Meeting at a bank. Bringing tools to open the watch. Wish me luck! any other obvious reasons this is a scam???

Apart from the fake watch in the pictures you mean? No no other problems it may be a scam apart from the fake watch.

Please can you be specific about how the watch is fake!? If I can save myself 2 hours of driving, I'd appreciate it. I figure there is a 1% chance it is real, so it might be worth my time.

Edit: oh yeah, any way to check a watch serial number to see if it is stolen?

Go drive 2 hours in a circle for more success and enjoyment. Better odds than that watch being real.

I turned around. I texted the sellerl and asked what they would be wearing, had received no response after 30 minutes. Too many red flags for my comfort.

I’ve had the same garbage people on CL in Denver , when you tell them let’s meet at a reputable dealer in town to check authenticity they go silent!!!!

The only way I'd drive two hours to meet a girl selling that watch is if her response to "what are you wearing" is "nothing", and sends you verifying pics.

The things people do to save a buck. I just don’t get it. OP. Save your time. Save a little more money and get one you know isn’t fake.
