I always enjoy a little Rachmaninov when I'm not blasting my brains out to my "anger release" music. Probably just about the only peaceful thing I listen to.

I would have to say "Yiruma- River Flows in you"
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1p_ebSseEq8 Sadly, this song now reminds of me Ex-Girlfriend, So now it brings tears to my eyes most of the time. But i still find this beautiful song amazing. And will probably always remind me of the amazing times i had with her. |

I usually start with something loud like Carmina Burana or the 1812 Overture to vent, but follow it with 18th Variation from Rhapsody on a Theme of Paganini to chill out, with others like Nessum Dorma thrown in.

One of the greatest chill out songs ever (despite the misleading title).
Silky smooth, jazzy "Summer Madness" by Kool and the gang. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5bfzWj5a_Y4 I can't find a link to the companion piece "winter sadness" but it's even better! |

Guys, seriously, listen to 'Many Shades of Black' by The Raconteurs - it will give you hope for today's music!

Believe it or not, Metallica used to put me to sleep in college. I don't listen to them much anymore, but the other day when a song came on the radio, I yawned, and wondered if it was a trained response!
