How do Greys get their stocks from ADs?

I always see Grey's advertising as either Local AD or Overseas AD and the same grey ALWAYS have the hottest models on hand. How do they manage to get hold of the stocks?

Exactly - ‘Grey market’ dealers are people too!!!

They have both personal and business relationships that can provide them access to inventory.

Not all ADs support the grey market.

So I were to buy a watch from a grey which is dated today, and I go back to the AD and tell the manager that I got it from grey, what will happen?

Absolutely.
I crack when I read those trying to figure out what Rolex can or should do about it.
Manufacturers only care about the grey market when it causes their product value to drop due to having flooded the market and then sold at ridiculous discounts by greys and then they have to do buy backs from ADs.

I went in to a grey in London yesterday, who was advertising a brand new 126710BLRO, 126710BLNR and brand new Submariner Date. I was curious as all pieces were said to have full papers, unstickered and I - like the OP - am often baffled about this.

I played very dumb, suggesting I was worried about their authenticity. The dealer showed me the warranty cards and paperwork and all three pieces were May or June 2019 watches. Two were from an AD in Athens (Greece) and one was from an AD in Italy.

I continued to play dumb and said I was worried what must be wrong with these watches, if the AD in Greece or Italy was not able to sell them. Were they defective?
The dealer's response was that he pays the AD over there more than list price, that the currency works out favourably for the AD too, and thus the AD gets to sell watches at a substantially higher profit margin than if they sold to local customers. The grey, in turn, can sell these pieces for a further margin on top, and to quote him, "everyone is a winner".

The answer is really very simple.

Just look at here in TRF, odds are the person on your left is going to be a flipper. The person on your right, meanwhile, will also be a flipper . And you, in the middle? What can you expect? a potential flipper :-))))
