i actually love the olive dial color, but IIRC you can only get that dial with roman numerals, which drive me up the wall.

give me an olive stick dial and i’m all about it.

It is only roman, but I have no issues with roman numerals on DD40. I like how they look with only even numbers. DJ41 roman dials look too crowded since they have all the numerals, so I got the sticks, but on DD, I'd take olive romans over any other dial all day.

You prefer the RG/olive combo now? Do you think it’s as timeless?

It’s worth bearing in mind that Rolex will swap dials at a service, for a fee of course. So over the years you could chop and change.

Would love to know more about that.
It was certainly true in the past.
They would change to any dial that is part of the reference dial line up.
In fact, I had a couple of references (DJs) changed by RSC NY through the years.
However, from a very credible TS’ own words, not happening anymore.
Wonder if there is validity to that.

I’m in the UK where the service is certainly available. With tax it’s about 800 dollars plus the cost of the service.

I would like to think they may have changed. Otherwise, why pay over $50,000 for a PM YG Daytona with green dial when you can pay $30,000 for any color and send in to RSC for an $800 dial?

In white gold I like both the blue and olive dials. The blue I feel is more versatile though but the olive is stunning!

Great pair. You got one romans and one sticks with lume. All bases covered.

I had a similar thinking as well

RG and Choco for the win!!!
YG and Silver Motif for the win!!!

It’s not the job of Rolex to pander to absurd market behaviour. Or protect greedy speculators.

This is what I chose after trying several. It works for me.

This is what I was getting at. The visibility in poor light.

I have been moving watches around going for ones that are easier to see. You will all get this when in your mid 70's. I traded a Datejust 41 with blue stick dial toward a CHNR GMT Master II 18K/SS. The CHNR is fantastic and the dial is very easy to read.

The problem is the nearest AD is 2 hours away. The other problem is none of the AD's have any watches to try on.

Thanks all for your advise. I will continue down the homework trail. Stay tuned.
