Rolex Mystery

Let's say you get to go deep into the Rolex coffers and ask one question that they must answer and let's presume there is an answer. What would you ask?

I would ask, what is the next model that will be produced in platinum that currently is not?

How many SS professionals does each AD have hidden away that they refuse to sell to just anyone?

But would be very happy if someone in the group asked this one.

Well, as long as we're in the coffers, I'd ask if they could make a small donation to my watch fund.

Well if I'm in the coffers I'm going to ask for the money, not some trivia question.

Glad you asked. It will be the Submariner. Also with an ice blue dial and with an option for diamond hour markers. Just debating whether with or without date function.

Not a joke. Nobody seems to know this date for certain. And many experts have different opinions (typically citing 67, 68, or 69). Which I think is a bit surprising considering the submariner date is one of the most iconic watches in history.

Had Rolex released an anniversary edition in 2019 as many were hoping, it could have solved the mystery. But they didn’t.

As for production numbers, corporate strategy, etc., I’m not very interested in that stuff.

I'd probably ask if their UK rep's need fleet vehicles and what their replacement cycle is.

This.
Why ask production numbers. Last know numbers for Rolex (thanks COSC, until Rolex shut you up) were for year 2013 and around 800k pieces. Faire to expect at least a million nowdays.

I'd rather like to know why SS is impossible to find, yet every stupid sales assistant has a SS SUB, HULK, or GMT's.
Wait... i don't think I wanna know. I think I already know.

lmao that should be "did maintain" - my friend picked up a brand new SD red from AD last week and the engraved crown on the rehaut is off-centred towards the right...he's so angry but doesn't want to send his grail watch to a RSC already!

Damn good question. I started a thread on this topic as seeing the (possible) anniversary of the Submariner Date creeping up in 2019. There really isn't anything definitive except that we can estimate very accurately from serial numbers and avid serious collectors that the earliest production year on record is 1969. But no literature from Rolex of any kind confirming this date exist and all the data is merely regurgitated info that someone else is quoting from someone else.
