Saturday morning in Kathmandu...

1972 Explorer, with the original style crystal. It's kept in tip-top shape by the watchmaker at the local Rolex dealer here. Single owner since new.

And the daily driver...

Wearing a vintage Rolex isn't exactly practical under local conditions...

This Samsung Galaxy has made a positive impression, after trying out 5 other models (Fossil, WearOS, etc.) and returning them. Basically they would hang, act erratically, etc., and they were similarly priced.

So the Samsung is reliable, everything works... runs several days on a charge... Now, using a Google Pixel 3XL phone, not all the application messages sync, as one might expect, given that it's a niche phone sold in tiny quantities, from Brand X.

But otherwise, no problems, and its functionality is compelling enough to warrant a move to the Samsung Galaxy phone in a few weeks. (While the 3XL definitely has a great camera, everything else is marginal to substandard; won't miss it at all).

In the same way that a smartphone eliminates 90% of what one would use a laptop for, same thing with the Smartwatch. Most of the time, what you need to know, and do, can be handled by a couple of taps on the wrist. Nice product, well-made, really good user interface and user experience, in my opinion.

Has anyone made a Rolex-themed downloadable face for the Galaxy???
