go with the jag, makes a nice change, 3 yr lease is ideal.

Keep the ideas coming guys !!!
I am happily processing the information and suggestions

I know there is a size differential, but as a daily driver the SUV will most often carry just me and a minimal amount of gear. My GLS 450 can accommodate everybody and their cargo when necessary

I want a break from BMW after four X5s in a row

Lincoln and Lexus make great products and are terrific considerations too

As to those who think that the RR is an everyday “ Soccer Mom” kind of ride....

Yep, you’re right

Agree on the Aviator.

It’s a great car.

Three things my old man told me:

“ Never play cards with a man called Doc.
Never eat at a place called Mom’s.
And never get involved with Jeep products”

( with apologies to Nelson Algren)

Too many bad experiences with the brand to be on my list

Please feel free to flame away, Jeep lovers

Between the two I'd say the Range Rover. There is a lot of other options I'd consider in that price range also.

Since your looking at the RRS and a Jaguar F-Pace. Why not consider the F-Pace SVR? You already have a GLS theres really no need for the RRS. Or better yet. Why not wait for the Velar SVautobiography edition?

If you do choose the RRS make sure its the V8.

This is sound advice.

Gentlemen, you are both spot on!!

I do suffer from the tragic
” lack of horsepower” disease.

While I appreciate the V8s/ V12s of the world, I’m happier with V6 reliability and relatively stress- free operation.

Since you asked for advice from “aficionados”...that reeeeeally leaves me out : )

Now if you’ll take it from the peanut gallery, then I’m in!

Of the two I love the look of the Jaguar and it’s turned my head a few times.

I do love the Acura RDX, how it looks, feels and drives. It might not be in the same class of size and luxury.

I believe a newly designed Range Rover is supposed to be out next year. Might be something to consider as you may not want to be paying those lease prices in a year for an old model.

All of my experience with British cars makes me say. Run Forrest run!.

But since you won't and they are leases. Pick the one that excites you to see in the parking lot and enjoy the heck out of it.

RR

i have the full size and love it.

Infotainment is buggy and they both share it AFAIK so its a wash on that.

Drove the f pace several times as my wife was considering it. I prefer the full size RR and the sport to the f pace

Drove both for half a day. I really liked the F pace S. Fun to drive, nice size and great seats. I am tall so seats with extenders are a priority. AFAIK RR does not offer seat bottom extenders in any of their vehicles so eliminates them for me. I drove about all the luxury SUV's on the market at that time. MB GLC, Volvo XC60, Porsche Macan are all worth looking at. The segment if filled with great rides. Good luck.

It’s been a very busy week at work
and so cars took a backseat ( pun intended )

A new contender has entered the race and appears to be leading the pack !

2018 MB GLS 450

I am very appreciate of the input from our car aficionados here.

The choices:

2020 Range Rover Sport HSE

2020 Jaguar F Pace S

It will be a lease and so reliability shouldn’t be an issue beyond 3 years.

What do you folks think ??

Well first off the two SUV's are made by the same Indian company, so reliability is the same and their histories really don't matter anymore.

That being said, the Range Rover is a dime a dozen in south florida. While you do see a fair amount of F Paces's here, there are very few S's. I think the F Pace S is different and a much sportier looking SUV over the RR. I'd go Jag brother!

I may not be able to escape the BMW vortex now
It’s looking like the deal is too good to pass up.

Yep when it comes to leases, I go with the best deal too. Three years goes by fast and you can always get the Jag or RR next time if the deals are right. Whatever you end up with, enjoy it with safety and happiness!

It is the best choice here. The f pace is a class below and the RR is ready for a redesign.

Yes everyone else will have one but that is for good reason.

This would be X5 x 5 for me ....’02,’05,’08,’12,possible’19
So I was part of “ everyone else” for years.
But, as you point out, that is because
BMW makes a heck of a Sports Activity Vehicle

My most important lesson learned to date:

DO NOT “ lend “ your wife your Mercedes-Benz !!!!!!

P.S. Unless you’re good with never, ever getting it back

Ugh, 4 hour drive for an out of state pick up in the AM.
Loaded up with podcasts and book downloads to pass the time.

I’m here and the BMW X5 awaits.

Thank you all for the help with this little automotive journey.

Pictures to follow....
