TRF, Validate my desire.... 116610lv

Hey y’all, so I’m finding that I can’t stop thinking about the 116610lv and need a little help from y’all to push me one way or the other (although I’m leaning pretty heavily one way)...

My current Rolex collection consists of a 116718 (black dial) and a 116500 (black dial). Back when I requested the Daytona last fall from my AD, I was torn between the Daytona and LV. My goal was to have a SS watch that wouldn’t make me miss wearing the YG gmt when on the wrist. The Daytona delivered that and more. I do love it.

However, I’m feeling the Daytona is almost too refined, too sophisticated, for some of the settings I like to wear it to (the beach, music festivals, etc). It works great in all settings, but I feel it lacks that “fun” or “cheeky” personality. The YG gmt is fun, but it’s kind of too blingy for these same settings (I recognize this is opinion, but it’s how I’ve been feeling)

So, I’m back to the LV (I do have access to the watch so getting it is not an issue).... I think it could fill a real gap in my collection. Informal and fun like the GMT, but without the eye catching YG bling aspect that is undesirable in some settings. Green is my favorite color. It would complete a land, sea, air collection for me (which seems fun, and maybe a way to rationalize a $50k+ watch collection). I have the cash for it and the LV seems just as good (or better) than cash sitting in the bank at a low interest rate.... (Pros)

(Cons):
- I told myself last year after the Daytona that I now had the perfect 2 Rolex collection and that I wouldn’t need more (I’d break that).
- I’ve never seen an LV-C in person. Will I actually like it the way I think I will?
- I “need” a 3rd Rolex like I need a hole in my head (I only have 2 wrists)
- I’ve been starting to think about re-doing the kitchen in my home. This purchase would likely push that project out by 3-4 months (spring 2020 to summer 2020). I live alone so no wife to appease

If you read this far.....

What would you do? Comments and perspective appreciated.

Purchase approved. Kitchens are overrated.

If you are okay with green, go for it. I owned the Hulk and sold it because I never wore it. I think it is a pretty watch and contrary to popular opinion, it goes with all colors, even black.

Love my LVc. It's a great part of my trio. You won't be disappointed.

As for your cons, see below:
- I told myself last year after the Daytona that I now had the perfect 2 Rolex collection and that I wouldn’t need more (I’d break that).Oh well. Who cares?
- I’ve never seen an LV-C in person. Will I actually like it the way I think I will? Yes
- I “need” a 3rd Rolex like I need a hole in my head (I only have 2 wrists)Agreed. Same here, but again; oh well.
- I’ve been starting to think about re-doing the kitchen in my home. This purchase would likely push that project out by 3-4 months (spring 2020 to summer 2020). I live alone so no wife to appease You just said no wife to appease; push the kitchen out.

Sounds like it will be perfect for you. If you buy it and don't like it its easy to shift.

Buy the LV, then just do a dial and bezel swap to the LN

Easy

If you purchased your daytona from an AD, then go ask him to show you the green sub, or look for a re seller in your area who has one and take as look at it. I have owned one and I think it will give the cheekiness you are looking for. Photographs don't do the dial justice.

Just a heads up: redoing your kitchen will increase the value of your property... and in turn, increase your property taxes. If the kitchen improvements aren't necessary, then learn to live with a B-list kitchen while wearing an A-list Submariner :-)

I just wanted to thank everyone for their comments and input here.... just waiting on a financial milestone that’s pending in the next few weeks (to ease the voice in my head), then will make the request of my AD. :-)

The different shades of green the dial takes on in different lighting is truly special. I’d go see one in person if possible since it’s hard to demonstrate in photos.

The watch will last longer than your kitchen and it will also give you better memories!

I think the LV would be a great addition to your other 2 watches. Go for it!
