I think Rolex is saving a new Sub for the market downturn

There is no such thing as too many Daytonas, just ask Mr. JC Mayer

You've already got two heavy hitters, I think the 519LN would be a great addition to the collection. Go for it!

If you wanted 2, then yes

If you wanted 4, then no

Definitely not too many and the balance is perfect. And don't listed to the AP naysayers. That AP Diver rocks (I have the same one ).

Since you already have two, one being a PM, I’d pass. You might consider the 42MM Yachtmaster in WG. That would be a cool addition to your already stella collection.

The 116519 Daytona with silver dial is the most beautiful of the current Daytona line-up, IMHO, so go for it. I'm mostly a vintage guy, but I couldn't resist picking one up. Aesthetically, with the contrast of the subdials on the silver and the ceramic bezel, the watch is abolutely stunning. The rubber is great, but you can also put it on a simple gator strap to mix up the look. The weight and luster of the white gold makes it seem even more special.

I agree. Sub this year is impossible to find. Demand for the new model will be nuts with the drought this year. Only Rolex can make money not selling stuff.

Thanks Neil,
Patek is not ruled out, but as much as I love say the 5164, 5712, your 5711r, etc, it seems prices still over-inflated. I do like also the 5172g but that is not really available.
I guess since I owned two 5711's and a 5167r, I know what the price should "feel" like. And right now they do not feel right.
But I have also noticed prices dropping a little. Be interesting to see if the trend "hopefully" continues.
Thanks for the feedback though, 116519LN at retail is pretty solid right now, not to mention it is a watch I love. Most greys are selling a tad over retail at the moment for BNIB.

I’m guilty of having a few variants of Daytona, including RG OF. So, I would go get it if I were you!

That is why I currently do not have a Sub... Waiting for a new version, as I have already owned every version in current lineup except TT black dial.
But I look really FORWARD to a new Sub. We'll see I guess as Rolex keeps things so secretive.

Actually I really like the AP diver, and I am changing to the yellow strap soon.
It's a fun watch and surprisingly comfortable for its size.
Of all the AP's I looked at under $25K, it was definitely the one that stood out for me.
Plus 42mm is the largest I can swing on my small wrist.

Yes, this is a watch that is solid as investment buying at retail.
I am not looking to make money, but I know I won't lose much if I sell
it in a year.
With the way I flip watches (a problem I am working on ), solid watches that hold value are important in my buying decision. Of course I have to love the watch, but I am not going to buy a Hublot at retail even if I love the way it looks...

Thanks Richard,
Platona is too heavy for my tastes. Comfort is so important to me, but that is the reason I never pulled the trigger. Seems like a trend with a lot of people on TRF to have at least a Platona Rolex in their collection and at least one SS Rolex. Honestly I like the aesthetic of YG / green dial better, but that is probably a minority decision. 116519LN is one I have been wanting to experience and surprising how long I had to wait for AD to get one!

I actually had a couple Daytona’s at once as well, but, after acquiring the PT Daytona, I just didn’t have a desire to wear a different Daytona. If one of my first choices for YG was a Daytona, I’d have that next to a PT Daytona possibly...but my YG choice isn’t the Daytona.
No wrong answer here my friend.

Thanks! Beautiful Picture! I agree with this message
I did not think of putting it on a gator strap! Definitely worth exploring.

I tried the new WG YM on at David SWs and it was surprisingly too big for my tastes.
I WISH they did this in 40mm like the RG YM on OF. That would have been a different story.
Interestingly some Patek 42s on WG I tried (like 5524) were also too big for my wrist.

EXACTLY
I did a thread on this a while back about buying watches you love vs. building balanced collections or themed collections.
I have been on both sides of this and currently (past 3 years) favor just buying watches I love, even if it leads to an unbalanced collection.
Though I have to admit if there is one thing that is still on my mind, is that I have an itch to have at least one AP and Patek in my collection, but again, I do love those brands and get ones I love.

Your not trying to build a collection with a theme but rather buying what you like and that’s what I admire. A lot of people build collections around land air sea, or different dial colours different brands etc but I think of you just buy what you like you’ll always be happy with what you got.

Having said I’ve been tossing up between an AP ROO or 519LN and like yourself I just can’t get away from Rolex I just think it’s good bang for buck compared to AP or patek and I’ve also put my name down yesterday for one

I loved my 116500. Then I bought a 116519LN. I planned for them to coexist. I no longer have the 116500.

It is so goooood.

I am thinking that MIGHT happen to me too... I love the 116500 but I have had it now for almost 2 years and it is not getting the love it used to.
We'll see

Why not consolidate Daytonas? Turn them all into one Platona.

As most have said, I think a 3rd will fit in just fine. Perfectly, in fact.

A YG, SS and now OF. Perfection.
