My Rolex story
I love reading acquisition stories, so here's my contribution.
In the late 70s, my dad received a Submariner as a gift from his brother before he left Pearl for Vietnam on a Navy ship. For some reason, my dad decided to trade it in the late 80s for a YG President, his dream watch. I busted his balls for trading in a gift from his brother. Well, my dad passed away a few weeks ago from a stroke. It was a rough few weeks. I found a random investment account in which my dad invested 29 shares in some random company in which I was the beneficiary. I always wondered why I got $30 dividend checks every few months. As fate would have it, the amount was just about enough to cover a 5 digit Sub, which I recently found and purchased. Love the watch, which I received just a few days before my dad's funeral. I even got it from a trusted seller for what I think is a great deal. I love how some people say buying a Rolex (for some people) is to mark a special event or an important date in one's life. Very true. I'd like to engrave my dad's initials and date of death. But not on the caseback. I wanna do it on an extra link. Anyone know where I can get that done? |
