I just retired from a career as a professional wildlife conservationist. I started wearing an Explorer II after my friend Dr. George Schaller appeared in a Rolex ad campaign extolling their reliability.
I've spent a lot of time in places without electricity or repair resources, and my 16570 has never let me down, either. I'm more than half-way through the February Accuracy Experiment, and it's within two seconds of the atomic clock, with no adjustments.
I have found the GMT hand to be very useful. It's amazing how confusing time zone changes can be when you're exhausted.
Yes, a G-Shock could have done the job. But my Explorer II works in boardrooms and in situations where one has to project authority and confidence, too.
