I think this is a fair question and as many have shared here, I agree the flagship is the DD; it's the quintessential Rolex IMO. There's something special about a solid gold Rolex irrespective of the model, but the DD carries a presence and persona all it's own.

I think it says something about Rolex when you can even have a debate about "flagship" models - their catalogue is overflowing with truly iconic timepieces - arguably more than any other manufacture. Win:win, for the brand and customer, I'd say.

When I entered the market for a true heavy hitter, the DD40 was at the top of my list. And since we're talking flagships, I made sure mine was platinum.
