Starting to look into AP: 14100st?

Hey everyone,

Long time lurker on this forum.
I am very passionate about watches and have been collecting the mid tier brands (Rolex, Omega, IWC etc) for a long while now.

Recently I have been looking into my first AP and came across this AP Royal Oak 14100st which I think would fit my 16 cm wrist perfectly (quite a rare transitional ref, between 4100st and 14790) from 1980. It is not cheap, (but not as crazy as a 3800 Nautilus) and I would have to trade my Rolex Explorer and Omega Seamaster 300 LE for it (plus cash)

What would your general advise be? Go for it or stay away?
The watch had been completely serviced by AP last year and was barely worn after.

Have a good one!
