Obviously you are proud of your purchase and enjoy your watch, but I suspect that you could have managed to tell your story without calling the choices of other members "BS" and "stupid". I'm not sure which part you think is BS, but I assure you, old watches can be damaged. It happens.

Each person has their own level of risk tolerance. Hopefully it won't happen to you, and if it does, I hope you will take it in stride. But I can also understand that some people might feel a certain level of anxiety that would decrease their enjoyment of a watch if they feel that it is delicate.

Sometimes I have a similar feeling about wearing a vintage watch that is in really pristine condition. I don't want to be the person that accidentally puts a ding or scratch on the case after 60 years of careful use. And yes, it probably does detract from my enjoyment of wearing the watch, and I wear it less often as a result.
