I believe it is customary to ask while genuflecting during the fasting period. If it’s at a boutique this doesn’t happen until after the bovine sacrifice at the Altar of Cellini. If it’s an AD, the rules are more lax, and you can do it right after the Trial of Humiliations.

It’s different, obviously, if it’s one of the hype pieces you want. Whole different set of rules.
