Private Escrow Service?
I received a reply for my listing on Chrono24 for a higher end watch where the inquirer wants to see the watch before buying, which I understand. As a private seller, Chrono24 doesn't require me to accept returns, so I didn't indicate one, although I am set up to use their Escrow Service. The potential buyer was wondering what part of the country I live in (the Northeast). He lives in California, but is traveling to NYC soon, but I'll be out of the country.
Any suggestions for how to address his comfort level without meeting someone in person that I don't know with a very expensive watch? I've written to Chrono24 to see if they can accommodate a return period within their Escrow Service where I could send it to him in CA for inspection after he posts Escrow, but what happens if he "loses" it or damages the watch? I was also thinking of seeing if there is an independent escrow agent in NYC that could act as the intermediary. Thanks for any help. This is a one time sale for me of a watch I inherited but don't use, so I'm very new to this. |
