Confusion over Date Discrepancy at RSC.

I recently purchased an Explorer from the secondary market and brought it to RSC while picking up my wife's newly serviced Datejust. I asked the watchmaker to take a look at it since the winding sounded gritty, and he eventually came out with the watch, informing me that it did not need servicing as it kept good time and the winding sounded good. However, I was confused when he said that the watch was from July 17, 2017, as my warranty card dated the watch to February 17, 2018. When I brought this to his attention, he simply responded, "This is the date that is showing on my records." Can anyone explain what could be going on?

Thanks
