Crown issue on Sub Date

I have a new sub-date and when trying to set it last night to sychronize with a standard time to assess how accurate it is, the crown was hard to bring out to the point where it stops the second hand....hard to stop consistently.

This is the second time I have tried this. The first time the crown worked no problem.

Is there a trick I am missing here?
