Soon to be a owner of a pre-owned sub 16610

Right now, I have this opportunity to purchase a pre-owned Sub 16610 with serial starting with D. I'm totally new to Rolex, and this will be my first Rolex watch. The condition of the watch has been appraised with a G8 (8 out of 10 grade). The price is about $4200 CDN + 500 taxes = $4700 CDN. I would like to find out if i'm paying too much for this since some are selling as low as$3000ish.

Also, I have read on this forum that the 16610 is now discontinued. I wonder if it will hold its value in a few years as people will be trading it for the newer model. I'm worrying that there are so many older Subs out there and therefore the supply will exceed demand.

What do you think?
