My GMT 1675 circa 1968?
Just guessing about the date, but I'm sure I'm pretty close. Was my Dad's.
I'm just looking to find out if there's anything notable about it from those who know these timepieces a lot better than I do. What I do know is, it's extremely comfortable to wear and I never have a problem making out the time. Of course it's a Rolex. That's notable. What do you think it's worth today? Keeps decent time, runs perfectly. Band adjustment is in the center with three open positions on either side. I have 7.5" wrists and it fits loosely at this adjustment, how I like it. Case back is plain, no engravings. Band has 550 inscribed on end links. I'm pretty sure it is the original SS Rolexband. Serviced twice that I know of. Once was in 1998. Most recently was 2007, at a local PA place in the Trevose area, "Precision Watches". At that time (2007) the crystal was replaced and the second hand (pitted) was also replaced. I can't remember if the other hands were replaced. Pretty positive the 24hr hand is original. I'll have to dig around for that 2007 receipt. Cost something like $630 for that service. Since then it has been worn extensively and the new crystal has some scratches. Crystal is the poly version. If the SS case has been polished, I don't know about it. I know these pix kind of s__k. Best I could get out of the camera I have, but I might be able to do better with a few more tries if necc. |
