cleaning a vintage dial

Hi-

Posted this in the tech section, but no responses.. anybody have some advice?

I purchased a vintage sub dial that was recently damaged by the watch flooding with salt water. What is the best way to clean / remove the salt contamination from the dial without ruining it? Can I soak or clean it in any way? I don't want any salt residue touching the movement.

Any suggestions?
