Any Comment of Rolex Thunderbird 1625

The Rolex Thunderbird 1625 was launched in 1956 as the Datejust Turnograph and was available in 18 k gold only and later available in steel and gold. It featured a revolving milled bezel which according to Rolex’s advertising at the time, would assist public speakers and broadcasters to time their speeches. The name Thunderbird was given to the watch after it’s American launch in 1960 when it appeared in the Rolex USA catalogue with the insignia of the “Thunderbirds”, the US Air Forces elite aerobatic display team. The team took their name from the F84g “Thunderjet” which was the Jet used by the first Thunderbird team, when it was officially activated on June 1st 1953 as the 360th Air Demonstration Team at Luke AFB in Arizona.
